The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) recent move of making it mandatory for shops to use signage boards with regional language is set to create an influx of business opportunities for the signage industry in India. With the dates of its 2022 edition nearing, Media Expo’s return after two years in the financial capital will be the perfect meeting point to identify innovative and cost-effective signage solutions.

Opening next month, the mega event will host over 100 exhibitors showcasing LED and digital signages, advancements in printing technologies and branding solutions in Mumbai. Top signage brands, including Cosign India, Ads LED, Sign India Corporation, Arihant Uniglobe, Sign Junction, Mistry Sign, Newtech Video Systems, Universal Signs Creation, PV Media Signage, Mahalaxmi Rubtech, will be demonstrating innovative solutions at the three-day fair from 12 – 14 May at the Bombay Exhibition Centre.

LED display screens held the majority share in India’s digital signage market in 2021, owing to their growing adoption in the retail, commercial, and hospitality sectors. As the OOH ecosystem evolves technologically, digital signage and billboards will continue to attract attention and offer more significant opportunities to local manufacturers. Electronic or digital signages and touchscreen kiosks are emerging technologies as the industry matures. “The next big opportunity lies in digitising OOH spaces, and the civic body’s regional push hints at a massive opportunity for signage manufacturers and retailers. Moving away from traditional signages, retailers can adopt advancements in digital and electronic signages to capture consumer attention and increase retail footfalls. We are confident that the broad showcase will help retailers, corporates and marketers gain new perspectives on the shifting trends.” commented Raj Manek, executive director and board member, Messe Frankfurt Asia.

In 2024, we are looking at full recovery and growth-led investment in Indian printing

Indian Printer and Publisher founded in 1979 is the oldest B2B trade publication in the multi-platform and multi-channel IPPGroup. It created the category of privately owned B2B print magazines in the country. And by its diversification in packaging, (Packaging South Asia), food processing and packaging (IndiFoodBev) and health and medical supply chain and packaging (HealthTekPak), and its community activities in training, research, and conferences (Ipp Services, Training and Research) the organization continues to create platforms that demonstrate the need for quality information, data, technology insights and events.

India is a large and tough terrain and while its book publishing and commercial printing industry have recovered and are increasingly embracing digital print, the Indian newspaper industry continues to recover its credibility and circulation. The signage industry is also recovering and new technologies and audiences such as digital 3D additive printing, digital textiles, and industrial printing are coming onto our pages. Diversification is a fact of life for our readers and like them, we will also have to adapt with agility to keep up with their business and technical information needs.

India is one of the fastest growing economies in nominal and real terms – in a region poised for the highest change in year to year expenditure in printing equipment and consumables. Our 2024 media kit is ready, and it is the right time to take stock – to emphasize your visibility and relevance to your customers and turn potential markets into conversations.
