On 20 December, during Pamex show, HP India and Kadam Digital Transprints announced the sale of an Indigo 12000 digital press to the Pune-based digital print house and prepress bureau. Pune’s Kadam Digital Transprints has always believed that the mantra for success for companies is to keep reinventing themselves from time to time. The purchase of the Indigo 12000 press is just another step for Kadam Digital in that direction.

“Our customers are now demanding something more than B3 and A4. They want us to do odd-sized jobs and they demand a variety of colors. We could feel that these formats were not very exciting for our customers anymore. That is when we decided to venture into the B2 format. It took us a couple of years to finalize the kind of press we wanted and we are finally here today announcing our decision to install the HP Indigo 12000,” said Kunal Kadam, director, Kadam Digital Transprints.

Since 2010, Kadam Digital Transprints has been using the Kodak Nexpress SE 3000. This press has now been uninstalled and sent to another print house. Kadam Digital Transprints’ shop floor is now ready for the new HP Indigo 12000 press, which will be commissioned during the first half of January 2018.

“We want to be a trailblazer in Pune market. Our aim is to go beyond CMYK and beyond paper. We will now be also exploring short-run packaging sample jobs,” Kadam explained. Kadam Digital Transprints is aiming to capture the premium segment in areas such as stationary, personalized posters, personalized calendars, photo albums, etc.

The HP Indigo 12000 press at Kadam Digital will have a configuration of seven colors, CMYK plus three spot colors. “We will be using seven colors at a time, CMYK and OVG, but overall we have eight color options as we will be using white as well. This covers almost the whole gamut of colors,” Kadam said.

He further shared that the plan is to incorporate High Definition Laser Array (HDLA) technology  into the press when the technology comes to India next year. This technology will further enhance the performance of the press.

At a speed of 4,600 pages per hour, the HP Indigo 12000 digital press can produce over two million color sheets per month.
