At PrintPack India 2017, Muller Martini promoted a host of postpress equipment. Speaking to Indian Printer and Publisher, Gaurav Bandlish, sales manager for Muller Martini said, “We have received excellent footfall at the exhibition. We were able to re-connect with many customers, who we had lost touch with during the last several years.” Although Muller Martini did not display any physical equipment at the event, the company carried out promotions for some of its latest equipment at the stand including their popular perfect binder—Alegro—and three knife trimmers—Granit and SN Demand.

The book industry is a publisher-driven market—so publishers have also reinvented their books. They have changed their complete design as well as the editorial part. The industry is definitely charting the growth path with around 10 to 15% growth.

Bandlish said that going forward the company’s new strategy would be for Tier-2 and -3 cities. “For us being a capital equipment manufacturer, it is important that we explain our customers how they can get return on investment by investing in capital goods. We witnessed a few interested clients at the exhibition whom we will follow up once the event comes to a close,” he informed.

Speaking about being futureready, Bandlish said, “All our products are reinvented according to customers’ requirements and are made future ready. The way the market is behaving, we have developed all these machines with flexibility so that they can be connected to digital presses as well. So even after 10 to 12 years, the equipment would not become obsolete.”

On the book industry Bandlish opined that in terms of quality printing, printers have been able to scale real heights. However, now the print runs have reduced while the number of titles have increased. “Of course the book industry is a publisher-driven market—so publishers have also reinvented their books. They have changed their complete design as well as the editorial part. The industry is definitely charting the growth path with around 10 to 15% growth,” he apprised.
