Mehta Cad Cam showcased a variety of digital printers – including solvent, eco-solvent, UV eco-solvent, and UV flatbed printers – at the 50th MediaExpo in Mumbai. The company also displayed the CO2 laser, an old product, and its flatbed cutting plotter to make cutouts after printing on foam boards.
Ahmedabad-based Mehta Cad Cam has developed laser technology products, CO2 laser technology equipment, fiber laser technology equipment, a vast range of CNC routers and different types of digital printers ever since it started out in 1989. “We are committed to making better quality products with super surfaces,” said Shailesh Mehta, director, Mehta Cad Cam.
Mehta Cad Cam showcased the Prince 3.2-meter solvent printer, equipped with 4 Seiko print heads and a speed of 2400 square feet per hour; and the Sino 3.2-meter solvent printer, equipped with 2 Seiko print heads and a speed of 1200 square feet per hour.
The company showed the Bruno 1.8-meter eco-solvent printer, equipped with an Epson i3200 print head; the Uno 1.8-meter UV roll-to-roll printer with an Epson i3200 print head; the Rasterjet Series hybrid UV flatbed printer with a Ricoh Gen 5 print head; and the Emico 9060 UV flatbed printer with an inbuilt rotary attachment, and an Epson i3200 print head.
The Eva 43 Co2 laser engraving and cutting machine with a glass laser tube; the EX Series CNC Router; and the CNC Channel letter bending machine were also on display.
Mehta Cad Cam’s stand at the expo saw a flurry of activity with dedicated visitors and customers queuing up to experience live demonstrations of the products. The firm uses Seiko printheads for solvent printers, Epson i3200 printheads for eco-solvent printers and small-sized UV flatbed printers, and Ricoh Gen 5 and Gen 6 printheads in big-sized UV flatbed printers.
Mehta Cad Cam installs over 150 machines per month on average. The company had sold around 2,000 machines in 2022. Mehta said, “All products on the Mehta Cad Cam stall are our own manufacturing. Mehta Cad Cam has the largest infrastructure in India. We have 22 branch offices nationwide to provide quick service and sales to our customers. Our products have applications in different industries such as engineering, signage, textiles, gifts, etc.”
According to Mehta, the Indian signage industry is undergoing a transition period as technology is changing. “There is a certain stagnancy. The market should go from solvent to UV printers. However, this shift has not taken place. As a result, solvent printers have stopped opting for the latest UV printers, and are just waiting and watching. UV printers who have purchased the technology, on the other hand, have not grown. This has created a kind of vacuum.”
“New people are also not entering this business. The signage business will only grow when new people enter. Only the old signage printers are present, some of which have shifted to alternative industries. This is not good news for the industry. Still, India is a big market and everything is growing. We are happy with whatever business we are doing,” he signed off.
