Solimar will be present at Hunkeler InnovationDays (HID), from 27 February to 2 March 2023.

Solimar Systems, a provider of workflow software solutions for print production and digital communications, will be present at Hunkeler InnovationDays from 27 February  to 2 March 2023, in Lucerne, Switzerland. Solimar will demonstrate how its workflow-enhancing solutions streamline production printing, finishing, mailing, e-delivery, and document archiving – benefiting production sites with efficient automation and file optimization, the company announced.

Solimar will showcase how its post-composition solutions improve processes and boost productivity for print production environments with cut-sheet and continuous-feed devices. Visitors can find Solimar supporting their partners in Hall 2.

HP and Solimar Systems: Visitors can learn how direct mailers such as IWCO efficiently implemented several PageWide presses in a mixed vendor environment and saved over $110,000 in the process.

Screen and Solimar Systems: There will be information on how mutual customers are benefiting from the visibility dashboard that tracks incoming work and creates ink and media reporting per job and Equios device.

“We look forward to supporting our partners and meeting many customers in person at HID. We will share how introducing software solutions built on our Chemistry platform takes the guesswork and manual steps out of production processes,” says Mary Ann Rowan, chief experience officer, Solimar Systems. “Sharing how we can help you increase revenue, lower costs, and improve employee and customer satisfaction with our intuitive, modular solutions is an important part of why we come to Hunkeler InnovationDays.”

Modular solutions from Solimar’s Chemistry platform will be featured, including its award-winning ReadyPDF  Prepress Server  solution – PDF file optimization beyond pre-flight for more efficient processing. Companies globally are benefiting from ReadyPDF for streamlined workflows in a mix of print environments. SOLitrack Mobile, the Solimar visibility dashboard, provides real-time statuses of jobs in the factory. Customers proof, approve or reject jobs or pieces of jobs online, prior to production. The team at Solimar can explain these use cases in detail at HID.

Recent customer success stories come from the state printer of Colorado, which saw production tasks reduced by up to 10 hours and PDFs optimized to 70% of original file sizes, and IWCO, which saved $110K by avoiding a retrofit to existing finishing equipment when introducing a new fleet of printers across two plants because of Solimar software solutions. Other new and upgraded solutions on show from the Chemistry platform include Solimar Print Director Enterprise (SPDE), Rubika, and SOLfusion. Through the flexibility and easy integration of these solutions, companies will benefit from a global network of best-in-class software and services.

Solimar recently announced a partnership with distributor Triumph Adler (TA),  operating in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. This expansion into the DACH market through TA will allow for much easier onboarding for large and small printers in the region. In addition, Solimar’s partnership with Kyocera Document Solutions in Europe is providing customers with faster, more efficient inkjet production. Visitors to HID will see first-hand the benefits that Solimar workflow-enhancing solutions can bring to any printing or mailing company through its global partner network, the company said.

Solimar Systems has partnered with successful hardware providers worldwide to provide software and services for their shared customers.

2023 promises an interesting ride for print in India

Indian Printer and Publisher founded in 1979 is the oldest B2B trade publication in the multi-platform and multi-channel IPPGroup. While the print and packaging industries have been resilient in the past 33 months since the pandemic lockdown of 25 March 2020, the commercial printing and newspaper industries have yet to recover their pre-Covid trajectory.

The fragmented commercial printing industry faces substantial challenges as does the newspaper industry. While digital short-run printing and the signage industry seem to be recovering a bit faster, ultimately their growth will also be moderated by the progress of the overall economy. On the other hand book printing exports are doing well but they too face several supply-chain and logistics challenges.

The price of publication papers including newsprint has been high in the past year while availability is diminished by several mills shutting down their publication paper and newsprint machines in the past four years. Indian paper mills are also exporting many types of paper and have raised prices for Indian printers. To some extent, this has helped in the recovery of the digital printing industry with its on-demand short-run and low-wastage paradigm.

Ultimately digital print and other digital channels will help print grow in a country where we are still far behind in our paper and print consumption and where digital is a leapfrog technology that will only increase the demand for print in the foreseeable future. For instance, there is no alternative to a rise in textbook consumption but this segment will only reach normality in the next financial year beginning on 1 April 2023.

Thus while the new normal is a moving target and many commercial printers look to diversification, we believe that our target audiences may shift and change. Like them, we will also have to adapt with agility to keep up with their business and technical information needs.

Our 2023 media kit is ready, and it is the right time to take stock and reconnect with your potential markets and customers. Print is the glue for the growth of liberal education, new industry, and an emerging economy. We seek your participation in what promises to be an interesting ride.
