Pantone, a global authority on color, has added 224 new colors to the Pantone Matching System (PMS), expanding its professional color library to nearly 9,000 colors and offering designers, brands, printers, converters and ink manufacturers a wider range.
The expansion comes as brands increasingly embrace more saturated, expressive and distinctive colors across packaging, product and graphic design, making accurate color specification and reproduction increasingly important across the production chain.
Engineered for real-world production, the new colors are available on both coated and uncoated paper stock and have been developed to deliver the stability, consistency and reproducibility needed to carry color accurately from digital design through to the finished physical product.
The additions span every color family, giving creative and production teams greater flexibility while helping maintain color consistency across different materials and stages of production.
Designed for modern production workflows
With color playing an increasingly important role in brand identity and product experiences, consistency between digital artwork, printed materials and finished products has become a critical consideration for brands and their production partners.
The new colors are available across the Pantone Formula Guide, Color Bridge and Solid Chips Set. Pantone is also offering the new colors as supplements for the Formula Guide, Color Bridge and Solid Chips Pages for a limited time, allowing existing users to update their current collections.
The colors are additionally available digitally through Pantone Connect and the Pantone Connect Extension for Adobe Creative Cloud, connecting color exploration and specification with existing digital design workflows.
Combining color science with cultural forecasting
The new collection was developed by the Pantone Color Institute in collaboration with Pantone’s color scientists, combining cultural color forecasting with technical color science.
The resulting additions expand the PMS while maintaining its production-focused application, helping creative and manufacturing teams work with a broader range of colors while maintaining consistency between digital concepts and physical output.
From digital intent to physical output
As brands and designers work with increasingly distinctive color palettes, the ability to reproduce a selected shade accurately across different production environments is becoming more important.
Pantone’s latest PMS expansion provides additional color options and production-focused tools to help brands, designers and manufacturing partners translate color intent consistently across today’s digital and physical workflows.
Pantone provides a universal language of color that enables color-critical decisions across branding, design and manufacturing workflows. Millions of designers, brands and manufacturers worldwide use Pantone’s physical and digital color standards to ensure color consistency across graphic, fashion and product design.
