India’s printing industry has gained its first integrated Sheetfed Offset Printing, Workflow and Training Competence Centre, as Heidelberg India partners with the Printech Park Cluster to establish a first-of-its-kind facility at KIADB Industrial Area Harohalli near Bengaluru. It has been developed as a world-class Common Facility Centre (CFC).

The future-ready facility has been conceived as a Center of Excellence that brings together live production, end-to-end workflow demonstrations, advanced operator training and practical skill development under one roof. Designed to serve printers, converters, print buyers, students and industry professionals, the center aims to accelerate technology adoption while strengthening India’s future print manufacturing workforce.

The collaboration was formalized through the signing of an MoU by CR Janardhana, chairman; Ashok Kumar, vice chairman; and BR Sathya Kumar, GC Member, representing the Printech Park Cluster, along with Upendra Rajadnya, territory manager – lifecycle operations; Robert Joseph, business head – consumables; and BS Chandrashekar, cluster sales head (south) on behalf of Heidelberg India.

As India’s print and packaging industry continues to expand, driven by growing demand from sectors such as FMCG, pharmaceuticals, and eCommerce, the need for technology adoption and skilled manpower has become increasingly important. Printech Park addresses both challenges by providing a collaborative platform where innovation, training, and practical application converge.

Speaking on the collaboration, Samir Patkar, president, Heidelberg India, said: “Printech Park represents a first-of-its-kind opportunity for the Indian printing industry to experience a complete Heidelberg ecosystem under one roof. Beyond showcasing technology, the facility will serve as a centre for continuous learning, where printers, operators, and production teams can receive hands-on training from experienced Heidelberg specialists. This initiative reinforces our commitment to driving innovation, productivity, and skill development across the industry.”

More than a demonstration facility, the competence centre creates a complete commercial print production environment, enabling visitors to experience every stage of modern print manufacturing-from pre-press and color management to press operations, finishing and workflow automation. It provides an opportunity for businesses to evaluate technologies before investment, optimize production processes and gain practical exposure to the latest printing innovations.

CR Janardhana, chairman, Printech Park Cluster, said, “ Heidelberg India has played a vital role in supporting the development of this facility. Today, Printech Park stands as a state-of-the-art industry resource that will enable printers and print buyers to access advanced production capabilities, modern workflows, and industry-leading technologies without the need for significant capital investment.”

The center houses a Heidelberg Speedmaster CS 92 four-colour press with a coating unit, a Suprasetter A 106 Computer-to-Plate (CtP) system, Polar 115 PF cutting machine, and Stahlfolder CH 66 folding equipment. Together, these technologies create a seamless workflow from prepress through press and postpress operations.

Strategic partnership

Heidelberg India and Printech Park Cluster aim to focus on – Advanced operator training and skill development; Live demonstrations of Heidelberg technology and Prinect workflow; Industry knowledge sharing and collaboration; Promotion of automation and digital transformation; and Enabling access to modern production capabilities for MSMEs.

By bringing together cutting-edge Sheetfed Offset technology, workflow expertise, live production and structured training under one roof, Printech Park establishes a new benchmark for India’s printing and packaging industry.

As the country’s first integrated Sheetfed Offset Printing, Workflow and Training Competence Centre, it is poised to play a pivotal role in building a more competitive, skilled and technology-driven print ecosystem for the future.
