Ernakulam’s Viani Printings has relied on Bindwel tech, using a BW@2500 single-clamp perfect binder to scale up its post-press production. Established in 1966 as a modest local print unit dedicated to producing the weekly publication Sathyadeepam, Viani Printings has evolved over the past six decades into a multi-institution printing and binding solution provider.
According to its promoter, Cardinal Mar Joseph Pareckattil, as the company scaled its educational publishing, notebook production, and magazine printing divisions, managing volume growth under strict deadlines while maintaining quality became a critical bottleneck. The team faced mounting pressure to deliver consistent binding quality across diverse paper grades, including maplitho, art paper, and duplex boards.
“Recognizing that manual intervention and fragmented post-press workflows were no longer sustainable, we shifted our binding operations entirely in-house. To anchor this automated workflow, we invested in the Bindwel BW@2500 single-clamp perfect binder for its industry reputation, cost-effectiveness, and robust local engineering support,” Pareckattil says.
The integration of the Bindwel BW@2500 has altered the shop floor’s dynamics, bridging the gap between high-speed printing and final dispatch. By replacing manual touchpoints with automated precision, the binder has optimized adhesive application and drastically cut down on material wastage.
“This transition has unlocked measurable improvements across the entire production line. Lower labor dependency, faster turnaround times, and a sharp increase in structural spine durability,” he said.
The newfound efficiency was recently put to the test during a high-stakes project for six prominent educational publishers, where Viani Printings successfully manufactured and shipped massive volumes of premium notebooks and textbooks under a compressed timeline without compromising on the final finish.
Today, the business spans four distinct entities—Viani Printings, Viani Digital, Viani Book Spot, and Viani Print Arcade—operating across a combined 45,000 square feet of factory space in Ernakulam and Aluva.
Driven by a team of 140 professionals, the company has recently marked a major milestone in its national expansion strategy by successfully distributing textbooks and notebooks to Assam, signaling its transformation from a regional staple to a pan-Indian provider.
Looking toward the next decade, Viani Printings is positioning itself to adopt even more advanced automation to meet the market’s growing demand for instant turnarounds. Backed by responsive technical service and after-sales support from the Bindwel team, the company views its current technical setup as the launchpad for wider nationwide market penetration.
