Muller Martini, the Switzerland-based specialist in print finishing systems, promoted its print finishing and binding solutions at Printpack 2025 Greater Noida. The family owned company has factories across the world with major production in Germany and Switzerland and also acquired Swiss based Hunkeler in December 2023.

Muller Martini has been a leader in book finishing solutions for a century, S Parthasarathy, assistant manager – sales, told Indian Printer & Publisher. Muller Martini India, headquartered in Delhi with a branch in Chennai, is a direct subsidiary of the company, he said, with ten service technicians to take care of its service operations in India. Muller Martini India looks after the markets in Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan as well.

There are many refurbished Muller Martini binding lines in India, he said, adding this was the company’s seventh Printpack. Since the Muller Martini lines are very big and require a lot of coordination, the company generally participates with an information stand at the show.

“Understanding customers’ specific requirements, coordinating with the factory for the basic design, and customization is a long process, so we cannot keep a specifically configured machine for demonstration. We keep an information stand at the exhibition so that customers can visit the stand and check and discuss the new products that we have on offer,” he said.

If customers face some issues with their Muller Martini lines, the company provides counseling and helps them, he said, adding the stand showcased audio-visuals highlighting its key technologies. He mentioned the recent Muller Martini takeover of Hunkeler, known for paper processing, and book finishing solutions inline to digital printing.

“We are a strong partner for our customers in many ways. First, we have strong service and support. Second, we have excellent machine quality incorporating the latest advancements in technology while being easy to operate. Third, Muller Martini is primarily a customer-driven company that gives preference to their specific needs and requirements. We make sure their investment is secure. Once a customer has our machine, they don’t need to invest in book finishing for another 20 years,” he said.

Muller Martini’s book finishing solutions consume less power and have reduced wastage, he said, adding the machines are not manufactured in India but imported from Switzerland and Germany. “We have had a lot of high-profile installations in North and South India. In India, the latest investments are toward hard cover bookbinding, premium stationery and children’s books focusing on art and craft activities. We have had a good FY 24-25 with good number of installations,” he said, although not revealing how many of the past year’s installations were of brand new machines.

“Our selling cycle is big. We had lots of inquiries at Printpack and drupa24. Our products are projects as it takes from six months to an year to finish the cycle,” he concluded.
