A printed products exhibition was organized for the students in association with Lovely Offset Printers, Sivakasi. They exhibited high-quality printed products such as notebooks, journal writing books, drawing books, perfect binding, spiral binding books, and coloring books.

The department of printing technology, Arasan Ganesan Polytechnic College, Sivakasi organized ‘Printer’s Day’ to pay tribute to Johannes Gutenberg – the father of printing. M Nandakumar, principal, presided over the function where students and staff were present.

Nandakumar said every printing student would feel proud to be a printer since the invention of movable type and the printing press was the invention of the millennium and paved the way for literacy worldwide.

He stated the students should develop their talents and expertise in the area of packaging as it has been growing with huge potential. He said there is a huge demand for printing students and they should possess positive attitudes, and good adaptive and communication skills.

Nandakumar said many foreign companies have recruited their printing students and there is a great demand for print technical persons in the industry. “Nowadays we are training the mechanical and electrical diploma students in printing and they are getting placed in the printing industry. This year 45 students have been placed in Emirates Printing Press, Dubai, Napco National, Saudi Arabia so far.”

On the eve of Printers’ Day 2025, various competitions such as Technical Paper Presentation Contest, Poster Design Contest and innovative Packaging Design Contest were held for students of printing technology. Around 120 second and third-year students actively participated and the winners were honored with prizes and certificates.
