Tasveer Digital Press, India, has expanded its portfolio of creative services by investing in a Xeikon 8500 digital press. Timir Naik, owner of Tasveer Digital Press located at Surat in Gujarat, states, “We have been operating in the digital CMYK segment for the past six years and have always thought out-of-thebox in terms of expanding our business. The Xeikon 8500 press is a great addition to our production portfolio with its width of 20-inch and unlimited print length. Its extraordinary size in digital CMYK will allow us to meet the demands of various market segments including commercial printing, graphics, weddings, oversized photo albums, photo books and corporate marketing materials, including posters, catalogs and magazines.”
Tasveer Kendra, a name that has been synonymous with photography for a long time, was founded by Kanti Naik in 1948. Tasveer became a household name in Surat following an award-winning legendary documentary on the 1959 floods. His sons, Krushan and Kavin Naik, joined the business in 1979 handling numerous videography and photography orders across Western India. Timir Naik launched lab services in 1990 with Tasveer Digital Color Lab. In 2000, anticipating the changes being wrought by digital technology, another lab was launched at Adajan in Surat.
Three years later, Tasveer was the first photo lab in Western India to install the Noritsu 3001 digital printing machine, enabling the introduction of the hugely successful 12 x 36 inches print size. It later expanded its head office with a stateof-the-art showroom, offering all digital services under one roof. At the same time, Tasveer established its Karishma Album and Binding Manufacturing Unit to provide the largest and most advanced wedding albums, catalogs and various different forms of binding services. It was also India’s first photo lab to start photo album manufacturing, opening up an entirely new industry segment.
But there was more to come. In 2007, Tasveer Digital Imaging was founded with expansion into the CMYK printing market with wide format equipment that enabled the creation of Jumbo Enlargements up to 60 feet wide and the ability to print on various surfaces like vinyl, backlit film and canvas. Over the years, Tasveer has kept its digital production portfolio up to date. Its latest addition, the Xeikon 8500 digital press, enables the company to produce 20-inch-wide printing of any length, once again setting itself apart in the marketplace. The 39 feet a minute, 1200 x 3600 dpi with 4 bit variable dot density press has an imaging width of 504 mm (19.8 inches) and can handle monthly duty cycles of up to 5 million pages. It can produce a range of applications such as brochures, posters, leaflets, catalogs, packaging and direct mail on a variety of substrates from 40 gsm to 350 gsm.
The Xeikon 8500 digital press delivers a combination of benefits that include high productivity in one-pass duplex web fed printing, professional image and data integrity, refined screening library, perfect color consistency and professional color management. Also the QA-P Dry toner allows the use of substrates without specific pre-treatment. Moreover, there are no VOC emissions and a wider color gamut is possible.

“Over the years, Tasveer Digital Press has continued to invest in state-of-the art technology to enhance and further develop the business,” says Naik. “Today, we are proud to be a complete printing solution provider and the Xeikon 8500 digital press is an important part of that evolution, significantly expanding the range of quality applications we can produce.”
