Tecnau, a global leader in paper handling, monitoring, processing, and finishing systems for the digital printing industry, has announced the integration of its rollfed cutting solutions with Meccanotecnica’s Universe Web continuous feed book sewing system, expanding finishing options for high quality digital book production. The collaboration ensures seamless mechanical compatibility, stable web handling, and efficient transfer from roll to sewn book blocks.
“We are very excited to bring this collaboration forward,” says Stefano De Marco, chief executive officer at Tecnau. “This is an important and exciting moment for the book market. By combining Tecnau’s rollfed cutting expertise with Meccanotecnica’s proven threadsewn binding technology, we are giving publishers and printers reliable, scalable finishing solutions that strengthen quality and workflow stability across the industry.”
Francesco Mussita, CEO of Meccanotecnica, adds, “This collaboration reinforces our commitment to supporting the evolution of digital book manufacturing. By integrating our Universe Web technology with Tecnau’s systems, we enable consistent, high-end sewn book production that meets the growing demands of today’s publishing and educational markets.”

This collaboration offers printers streamlined roll-to-book workflows with reduced manual handling and improved process stability. Compatible with a broad range of substrates and formats, the integrated solution supports both medium volume and industrial production environments.
Two configurations are available: • A medium volume solution combining Tecnau’s Cutter c7 with Meccanotecnica’s Universe Web, offering flexibility and efficient operation. • A high volume configuration pairing Tecnau’s Revolution 50 with the Universe Web Full Cycle version, designed for continuous, industrial grade book manufacturing.
These combined technologies provide publishers and printers with dependable finishing performance, enhanced scalability, and long term production reliability, supporting the continued growth of digital book production across educational, commercial, and general publishing segments.
