New Delhi-based NKN Print Solutions, a print solutions provider, has installed a Spectra Forge M-330 from Ronald at its Okhla facility to enhance its book production capacity. According to Navin Bansal, the company’s owner, the decision to invest in the sheetfed digital printing machine was driven by the need to tackle intensifying competition in the market.

“We are a quality-centric firm providing reliable and efficient printing and binding solutions. Although we print a wide range of materials, book printing is our specialty. We’ve earned our reputation by offering clients the best price-to-quality ratio,” Bansal told Indian Printer & Publisher.

Founded by Bansal in 2008, the business was renamed and converted into an LLP in 2014. A year later, Bansal installed two monochrome machines from Konica Minolta and later expanded with an AccurioPress C1085. His experience with Konica Minolta’s toner-based technology has led him to acquire seven presses from the digital solutions provider. In 2022, NKN added two Riso presses and, a month ago, installed the Spectra Forge M-330 from Ronald.

Bansal notes that, in his experience, toner-based printing delivers superior output compared to inkjet for monochrome jobs. The company continues to grow year over year, currently producing about 1 million (10 lakh) black-and-white sheets per day and roughly 250 million (25 crore) sheets annually for publishers, educational institutions, and walk-in jobbers. In its first month of operation, Ronald’s Spectra Forge M-330 has already printed around 3.5 million (35 lakh) sheets, proving to be a promising investment.

According to Bansal, the Spectra Forge M-330 sheetfed digital printing machine combines intelligent technology with dependable performance to meet diverse printing needs. Designed for businesses seeking high-speed, accurate, and consistent results across various paper types, the machine’s efficient sheet-feeding system makes it ideal for commercial printing, books, and marketing materials.

“Every customer I spoke with had only good things to say about the technology provider,” Bansal remarks. “The machine’s quality and cost-effectiveness make it perfect for high-volume production.”

The press uses water-based pigment ink with a high-speed, circulation-on-demand piezoelectric printhead (with optional HD resolution). Its integrated nozzle control board and intelligent software ensure superior image quality, while single-pass variable dot printing supports layered outputs.

A precision motion control board coordinates sensors and servo motors for accurate sheet handling. Optimized for black-and-white printing, it’s well-suited for print-on-demand (POD) applications such as books, manuals, and internal documents, offering up to 1200 dpi resolution with embedded tracking—ideal for government and institutional printing.

Discussing market trends, Bansal observes that competition in the printing industry has intensified. Orders have declined as publishers are now installing presses for in-house book production. However, as publishers can’t meet annual demand within just four or five months, they continue to outsource part of their workload, he explains.

“But the number of orders commercial printers receive has declined. The competition now revolves around print costs. If you want high-volume orders, you must offer rates others can’t match. Printers can still make money, but turning a profit in this environment is a completely different challenge.”
