In a press release dated 1 July 2025, three Japanese printing ink companies, Sakata, DIC Graphics, and Toyo Ink, announced that they will start joint delivery of primarily offset inks for the information market in the Toyko metropolitan area to streamline logistics and solve societal issues. Against a backdrop of ‘2024 Problem in Logistics,’ and as the information media market is shrinking the measure was taken. “Since a cap on overtime hours for truck drivers went into effect from April 2024, comprehensive logistics, optimization of the shipper is required. To respond to this situation, the above three companies will propel to streamline logistics through joint delivery.”

The release states that although many of the areas of at each company are currently overlapping, this joint delivery will help to reduce the number of delivery trucks, decrease in CO2 emissions, and the shortage in truck drivers, which is the major issue that the logistics industry is facing. This will also result in controlling the rise in shipping costs. It adds, “Beginning with the initiative taken in the metropolitan area, we will examine the possibility of nationwide joint delivery. We will continue to make efforts in pursuing further optimization in logistics and a stable logistics system.”
