At the 14th edition of the Chennai Print Expo, Monotech Systems, a digital solution provider, launched a new range of Lumina Presses for digital embellishments for entry-level businesses such as coffee shops.

In a conversation with Indian Printer & Publisher, TP Jain, the owner of the Chennai-based company, said new entrants can benefit from this convenient technology as the new machine can print 60 sheets per hour. Jain said the show was beneficial as several deals are now under discussion for label and book printing technologies.

The company has upgraded its PixelGlow range with an enhanced speed of up to 100 sheets per hour with auto-loading and inline foiling features. According to Jain, enhancements have been made in most of the digital solutions of Monotech. The company manufactures inkjet technology-based presses for book printing, narrow-web printing, output devices for wide-format printing, and print enhancement technology.

Monotech’s stand at the southern exhibition hosted printing solutions from its partners such as the Ricoh Pro 7500 and the Ricoh Pro 9500, which have been in the market for a while and are still growing in demand. There was also Mimaki’s roll-to-roll printer for wide-format media.

The company is a distributor for leading global hardware and software brands in print and packaging, including AKK, Canon, Color Logic, Cron, Kodak, Glunz & Jensen, Miraclon, Mimaki, Ricoh, and Scodix.

Jain believes inkjet technology is gaining traction in the book printing industry. “Book printers are aiming for inkjet solutions for both monochrome and color presses. The KnowzzleJet inkjet web press for the book printing market has gained significant popularity over the years. Several book printers have already switched to this technology. Our in-house R&D is working towards developing advanced inkjet products, such as label embellishment, on-demand book printing in both monochrome and color, large format printers for signage applications, industrial printing applications, and their enhancement engine,” Jain said.

On the industry, Jain said the market for digital solutions is growing as requirements for short-run jobs grow. “This launch is for that very market. Many smaller players are on the rise with an inclination towards digital for better ROI. The inclination is also due to the premium look and feel that digital can offer alongside being compact,” he said.
