Ramping up print volumes with eye on bigger market

Bhiwandi-based digital print service provider Green Apple NX recently commissioned a new Canon imagePRESS V900 production digital printer to meet the growing demand for high-quality, fast printing from its customers — the second Canon digital press operating on the company’s shop floor. In mid-2022, Green Apple bought a Canon imagePRESS C710 press.

The new imagePRESS V900 was supplied by Edifice Technologies, which distributes Canon production presses in the Mumbai market.

“We started about three years ago and our print volumes have increased at a very rapid pace. We began with an entry-level Canon press in 2021, which we exchanged for the Canon imagePRESS C710 last year. With rising print volumes, we needed another faster production press. Initially, we thought of buying the V1000 press but decided not to due to space constraints. So, we went for the Canon imagePRESS V900,” said Ghanshyam Revaria, owner of Green Apple NX.

Canon India announced the launch of a new generation of the imagePRESS series, comprising the V1000 and V900, on 27 March at Pamex 2023 in Mumbai. The V900 can print 90 A4 sheets per minute and is capable of automatic duplex printing up to 350g/m².

Revaria saw the press in action at Pamex 2023 and liked the performance. He then visited the Canon demo center and did an extensive trial.

“We were very happy with the results. Although it has just been a couple of weeks since we commissioned the press, the early impressions are really good. The color profile of the prints is very good, the speed is much faster than our existing press, and the auto-calibration feature is a big plus. Also, the press can handle a wide gamut of media,” Revaria said.

Green Apple NX provides print solutions to customers in the food, pharma, and packaging segments among others. It prints a variety of stickers, visiting cards, and identity cards, among others. It operates from an 800-square-foot space and employs seven people. Most of its customers are based in Bhiwandi while some are based in south Mumbai.

Aiming to ramp up volumes

Green Apple NX is aiming to ramp up output on the new imagePRESS V900 in the coming months as it expects to acquire more jobs.

“The volumes in the digital printing segment in Bhiwandi are expanding very fast. Now that we have a new, high-speed press, we are confident of acquiring more jobs. This will boost our volumes substantially in the near future. We are very bullish about the growth in the digital printing industry,” Revaria said.
