Canon is showcasing its wide range of production printers tailored for commercial and in-house print service providers (PSPs) at PrintExpo 2023. These printers are said to be designed to empower PSPs by opening new avenues in the production printing market, significantly enhancing work efficiency.

Among the lineup are the recently launched Color production printer imagePRESS V1000 and imagePRESS V900/V800/V700. Canon will also display its selection of large format printers, including the imagePROGRAF TA-5300 L36ei, imagePROGRAF GP-540, imagePROGRAF TZ-5300, Z36 scanner, and desktop large format printer TC20. The company is also displaying entry color production printer imagePRESS C265 and the mono production printer imageRUNNER DX ADVANCE 8786 at the show at stand no A05 in Hall 2.

C Sukumaran, senior director- Product and Communication, Canon India shared, “Print Expo has always been one of the best regional shows covering the target audience from all five southern states for us. We have been participating in Print Expo almost every year since its inception and have witnessed a positive outlook from a sales prospect with interested customers in the past, leading to good enquiries for our sales funnel.”

Print Expo 2022 turned out to be a good show for us at Canon India, and we were able to close some good orders which are still running post-show, he said. “Moreover, earlier this year, we launched the imagePRESS V Series, which has been appreciated by the customers so far. We further expect this product to make our proposition at Print Expo 2023 better as we will be displaying it for the first time to our southern printer community.

“The imagePRESS V Series boasts five core features that truly set it apart from other models in the market. First and foremost, its versatility enables handling a diverse range of print jobs, from basic documents to high-quality marketing materials on specialty media like synthetic textures and even envelopes. As a viable option, the V Series is ideal for printing businesses seeking efficiency and cost-effectiveness,” he added.

Its high-volume printing capabilities are impressive, allowing quick production of large quantities of prints while making media switching between different paper g/m 2 (gsm) a breeze, he said. This makes it the perfect choice for print shops and in-house printing departments, ensuring smooth workflows.

“The printer’s focus on delivering exceptional quality ensures that prints are sharp, detailed, and professional-looking. Moreover, its vibrant colors add a pop of life to every page, making prints stand out and capture attention. With the V Series, we envision a long-term partnership, offering a visionary perspective for businesses looking to enhance their production print capabilities. Overall, the V Series is an excellent choice for businesses that require high-quality, reliable, and efficient printing solutions,” he added.

On the growth of the print segment, Sukumaran shared, “India’s commercial digital printing industry has been witnessing double-digit growth year on year for over a decade. As the impact of Covid diminishes, we are anticipating even stronger growth in 2023 compared to previous years. The rise of on-demand printing, driven by the introduction of new applications and the desire to maintain lower inventories, is a significant trend in the printing sector. Applications such as label printing on sticker media and printing on synthetic paper have also played a vital role in boosting print volumes and driving hardware sales in the commercial digital printing growth story.”

Canon is expecting to connect with key visitors including jobbers (print for pay) and copy shop owners who are looking to upgrade their existing line of digital printers or add a new fleet to their premises. It is expecting good response from commercial offset printers who are considering to add digital printing solution to complement their offset setup.
