SGIA Expo 2018 will be held from 18-20 October 2018 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Nevada, USA. It is the largest expo of North America. The show will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on 18 and 19 October, and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on 20 October 2018. Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) is associated with the digital and screen printing community. Expanded in the area of around 260,000 net square feet, the show will have more than 600 exhibitors and 25,000 registrants. The golden image competition, product of the year, student printing competition, etc. will be a few highlights of the show.

Many companies will be launching their new products in this expo, including The Lawson blazer conveyor dryer, The Lawson LED-5000 from Lawson Screen & Digital Products, Interference pigments and ColorShift pigments from KP Pigments, colaris-12-2200 small production printer from Zimmer Austria Inc, Filmfree metallic waterslide decal paper from Sunny Scopa Inc., etc.

Fujifilm North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division will launch its Acuity Ultra, a cost-effective high speed, superwide UV roll-to-roll press for the production of high-end interior graphics and outdoor signage at Stand 1119. The Acuity Ultra Series will be available in 126” (3.2 m) and 197” (5 m) versions. Additionally, Fujifilm will showcase SpyderX, a UV wide format press, designed and manufactured by Inca Digital. The robust 126” (3.2 m) wide, 6-color + white SpyderX is available as either flatbed or a combination flatbed/roll-to-roll system model for handling rigid and flexible substrates. This printer is capable of producing a wide variety of output at high speeds up to 2,476 square feet per hour (230 m²/hr). The B1 (27.8” x 39.4”) format OnsetM inkjet press from Inca and Fujifilm, is a short run solution for sign and display, commercial and industrial print applications. With print speeds of 200 boards per hour and 7 pl drop quality, the printer delivers cost-effective short-run jobs in popular format sizes.

Roland DGA will showcase its latest inkjet printers and other advanced digital devices. Additionally, it will conduct a complete schedule of live, in-stand special events designed to engage, educate and inspire attendees at Stand 1137. Visitors will see ‘How I Built My Business’ interviews with accomplished Roland end users on the main stage, attend vehicle wrap demonstrations by the pros from Digital EFX Wraps, participate in hands-on workflows, get UV and dye-sublimation tips from Roland DGA product managers, and even enter Roland’s latest global contest for a chance to win an African safari for two.

OneVision Software will demonstrate how its Wide Format Automation Suite acts as the perfect link – the so-called middleware – between the webshop system/MIS and RIP at Stand 4603. To simplify the implementation of a holistic end-to-end workflow for print shops, the Wide Format Automation Suite also includes a cut line manager that repairs broken cut lines and generates a cut line PDF analog to the print PDF. This gives the cutter instructions for a seamless finishing process. The Regensburg-based company will be releasing its new software version 18.2, which focuses on extended barcode functionality with expanded nesting function.

The Covid-19 pandemic led to the country-wide lockdown on 25 March 2020. It will be two years tomorrow as I write this. What have we learned in this time? Maybe the meaning of resilience since small companies like us have had to rely on our resources and the forbearance of our employees as we have struggled to produce our trade platforms.

The print and packaging industries have been fortunate, although the commercial printing industry is still to recover. We have learned more about the digital transformation that affects commercial printing and packaging. Ultimately digital will help print grow in a country where we are still far behind in our paper and print consumption and where digital is a leapfrog technology that will only increase the demand for print in the foreseeable future.

Web analytics show that we now have readership in North America and Europe amongst the 90 countries where our five platforms reach. Our traffic which more than doubled in 2020, has at times gone up by another 50% in 2021. And advertising which had fallen to pieces in 2020 and 2021, has started its return since January 2022.

As the economy approaches real growth with unevenness and shortages a given, we are looking forward to the PrintPack India exhibition in Greater Noida. We are again appointed to produce the Show Daily on all five days of the show from 26 to 30 May 2022.

It is the right time to support our high-impact reporting and authoritative and technical information with some of the best correspondents in the industry. Readers can power Indian Printer and Publisher’s balanced industry journalism and help sustain us by subscribing.
