Shilp Arts has been an important name in Surat’s commercial offset printing industry for close to three decades. It specializes in printing high-quality fashion catalogs, servicing the thriving textiles and garment industry of Surat. Shilp operates from a 20,000 square foot facility and boasts of top-of-the-line machinery at its disposal.
In the second half of last year, the print house added its sixth press by investing in an RMGT 920 press. With this, Shilp now has three Heidelberg presses, two Komori presses and one RMGT press. In the postpress section, it has automatic cutting machines, automatic UV machines, lamination machine, punching machine and foiling machines.
Second RMGT press ordered
In January, the founder of Shilp Arts, Manoj Nanavati, visited Japan to attend an open house organized by RMGT.
“I was at the open house to check out all the latest technology that RMGT has to offer. It was a great open house and I was extremely impressed with what I saw there,” says Nanavati.
It was during the same visit that he signed a deal to order Shilp’s second RMGT press, the RMGT 790 ST of 23×31 inch size. The press can handle 8-up printing of B5 size and has double-diameter transfer cylinder for stable sheet transport. Some other important features of the press are program inking, automatic plate changing system, various pre-set devices, among others.
RMGT 790 incorporates V-type feeder, the same feeder as RMGT 10 series, and has a fully automatic convertible perfecting device capable of one-pass perfecting. Customers have an option to go for thick cardboard specification model, which handles sheet thicknesses up to 0.8 mm. An IR, UV, or LED-UV curing unit can be installed at the delivery section if a customer wants to.
“One of the most important reasons to opt for our second RMGT in such a short succession is top class post-sales service of Provin Technos,” shares Nanavati.
The new press is expected to arrive by the middle of March and Shilp plans to sell off one of its existing presses to make way for the RMGT.
Exploring packaging printing
After opting for two brand new presses within one year, Nanavati shares that a third press is expected to be ordered later this year but this one would be to cater to the packaging printing segment that Shilp is looking to venture into.
“Yes, we are seriously looking at the packaging printing space and are contemplating another brand-new press this year. We have not decided on which one we will go for but RMGT is definitely in contention,” Nanavati concludes.
