At the Media Expo 2017, held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi in September, Fujifilm’s primary motive was to market its champion product—UV flat bed printer Acuity EY. The product has been a phenomenal success in the signage space for the past one year with nearly 50 installations until September 2017. With the ongoing traction that the product has generated in the market, customers can be assured about the quality and robustness of the machine.
In addition to the Acuity EY, Fujifilm also demonstrated the technological prowess of its made in India machine— the Vybrant 1800. The product is currently being sold in the commercial space and going by the response it has received so far, Fujifilm plans to scale up the production of the machine for customers in the entry-level category.
Also on display at its stand was the UVISTAR Hybrid 320, which the company plans to launch in November. The UVISTAR Hybrid 320 has been designed to manage a range of jobs. In the current day scenario, each application requires different kind of ink and different platforms, which makes the job hard for print service providers. It is here that the UVISTAR comes into play. The running cost of the machine is extremely economical. The machine is 3.2 m wide, with a throughput of up to 201 m2/h. It also enables multi-sheet printing. From wide roll to multi-sheet rigid printing, the UVISTAR Hybrid 320 offers the potential to broaden production capabilities in one investment.
Fujifilm sold its star product, the Acuity EY, at the show to Promos, which deals in below-theline services like flex printing and eco-solvent printing. The one thing that prompted Promos to invest in the Acuity EY is the effortless way in which the machine prints on different mediums.
Over the years, Fujifilm claims to have added some big customers to its portfolio. Although there was a momentary loss for the company due to the implementation of GST and demonetization, post August the company recorded improved sales.
SM Ramprasad at the company stand said that UV is the ongoing trend in the printing industry. Fuelled by it’s in-house innovations, Fujifilm has managed to come up with an unparalleled white ink handling option. The main challenge for Fujifilm lies in educating customers to comply with the changing dynamics of the industry. With a number of products lined up for the packaging industry as well, Fujifilm looks forward to make a mark in the packaging space soon.
