Color-Logic differentiating print through design

Color-Logic’s Process Metallic Color System empowers designers, provides a brand with shelf impact at a fraction of the cost typically associated with metallic printing, and provides printers and convertors with an accurate color communication system for metallic ink printing. It is inarguably the world’s first color communication system for printing on to foil and reflective substrates, when using white ink and CMYK. Color-Logic is compatible with offset, inkjet, flexography, digital, screen and gravure printing processes. It is ideal for, but not limited to, packaging, pouches, direct mail, POP, signage, post cards, literature, booklets, labels, shrink sleeves, calendars and many more.

Using the Process Metallic Color System, it is possible to create a wealth of special effects. Each effect is pre-built into the palettes and plug-ins available with the Design Suite package. Also provided is a master class tutorial and comprehensive online training video that guide the user through the process of creating a design, using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Some of the key components of Process Metallic Color System are:

Process Metallic Color Charts – Color Communication
The Process Metallic Color Charts are the core foundation of the Process Metallic Color System, which provides a color communication system for 250 metallic colors for decorative effect substrates, inks and coatings. Printers and convertors are granted a license to manufacture their own Process Metallic Color Charts, versus trying to match a generic purchased swatch book of metallic colors, which was printed under unknown conditions and more often, with substrates and inks that are not applicable to the printing process of the printer.

Design Suite – Decorative effect software
The Color-Logic Design Suite enables graphic designers to create a virtually unlimited array of metallic colors and decorative effects using color palettes and plug-ins for Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and QuarkXpress. The most affordable system for printing metallic colors and decorative effects, Color-Logic requires only five colors to create 250 metallic colors and decorative effects in a single pass of a 5-color press (or multiple passes on a press with 4 colors or less).

FX-Viewer – Visualization software
The FX-Viewer is on-screen visualization software that enables graphic designers, agencies and printers to visualize the dramatic Color-Logic effects on their monitor before proofing or going to press. The simple and easy-to-learn user interface provides customers with a powerful tool for visualizing the impact Color-Logic can bring to their printing.

2023 promises an interesting ride for print in India

Indian Printer and Publisher founded in 1979 is the oldest B2B trade publication in the multi-platform and multi-channel IPPGroup. While the print and packaging industries have been resilient in the past 33 months since the pandemic lockdown of 25 March 2020, the commercial printing and newspaper industries have yet to recover their pre-Covid trajectory.

The fragmented commercial printing industry faces substantial challenges as does the newspaper industry. While digital short-run printing and the signage industry seem to be recovering a bit faster, ultimately their growth will also be moderated by the progress of the overall economy. On the other hand book printing exports are doing well but they too face several supply-chain and logistics challenges.

The price of publication papers including newsprint has been high in the past year while availability is diminished by several mills shutting down their publication paper and newsprint machines in the past four years. Indian paper mills are also exporting many types of paper and have raised prices for Indian printers. To some extent, this has helped in the recovery of the digital printing industry with its on-demand short-run and low-wastage paradigm.

Ultimately digital print and other digital channels will help print grow in a country where we are still far behind in our paper and print consumption and where digital is a leapfrog technology that will only increase the demand for print in the foreseeable future. For instance, there is no alternative to a rise in textbook consumption but this segment will only reach normality in the next financial year beginning on 1 April 2023.

Thus while the new normal is a moving target and many commercial printers look to diversification, we believe that our target audiences may shift and change. Like them, we will also have to adapt with agility to keep up with their business and technical information needs.

Our 2023 media kit is ready, and it is the right time to take stock and reconnect with your potential markets and customers. Print is the glue for the growth of liberal education, new industry, and an emerging economy. We seek your participation in what promises to be an interesting ride.
