Okhla-based JK Offset Graphics has strengthened its commitment to provide high-quality print products to its customers by investing in a brand new 4-color Komori Lithrone G37 press. Installed in October 2016, the new press accommodates short turnarounds at speeds up to 15,000 sheets per hour while handling sheet thicknesses of 0.04 to 0.6 mm. In the postpress segment, JK Offset has geared up prowess by installing a Muller Martini flow-line machine during the same time in 2016. “Our production has increased threefold after the installation of the new Komori Lithrone G37,” said Saksham Jain of JK Offset Graphics. At present, the company converts about 40 tons of paper daily. This is the second Komori press that the company has invested in, the first being a brand new Komori Enthrone 429 in 2012.
Started in 2009 by JK Jain, JK Offset has two plants,―both in Okhla. With expertise in printing books, coffee-tables, magazines, posters, catalogs, brochures, files and folders, newspaper inserts, newsletters and office stationery, the company primarily deals in the public sector. Nevertheless, its corporate and walk-in customers relish a significant business share in the company. Some of its notable corporate clients include Godfrey Phillips India, Safexpress, Pratham Books, Amar Ujala Publications, Intex Technologies India, and many more.
The Komori Lithrone G37, launched at drupa 2016, is a compact press that can produce A1-size prints and allow up to 16-page production. Its maximum 650 x 940 mm sheet size can accommodate a wide range of printing needs in publishing and commercial printing. “The press is equipped with an updated version of the KHS-AI integrated control system which allows quick print turnarounds,” said Jain. “Time and quality are the major factors that decide how competitive you are in the market; and this press fits completely in our growth plan and strategy.”
Situated at a prime location in Okhla, JK Offset has a complete inhouse setup of prepress, pressroom and postpress section. “Having our in-house setup has multiple benefits. Our clients are extremely happy with our services and are enjoying a trust factor with us apart from getting delivery of their print products in time. We have complete control over quality now,” Jain said. In the prepress section, the company has a Basys Print UV Setter 850 CtP, which processes about 250 Technova plates daily. The pressroom has three Heidelberg presses in addition to the two Komori presses. The postpress and finishing section has three folding machines,―a single fold machine and the other two being three fold. In addition, they have two sewing machines and a 6-clamp perfect binding machine. The Muller Martini is a standard saddle stitcher with six gathering units, one covering unit along with a twopinning unit and a 3-knife cutter.
Speaking about his future plans, Jain said, “We want to equip our plants with proper workflow and ERP systems. This will help us handle our resources in the most optimum way. Also we will be able to be more systematic in our action and bring in a sense of sophistication to the workfloor.” Jain plans to set up another plant in Okhla to print notebooks, registers and children’s books. “This plant will have web offset machines,” he said.
