Mimaki launches flatbed UV-LED inkjet printers

Targets 20% market share

Mimaki, a global industry leader and manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers, launched two flatbed UV-LED inkjet printers – UJF-7151 and UJF-3042 Mk II – at Media Expo in New Delhi. The company also showcased its grand format LED-UV inkjet printer – UJF55-320, the direct textile inkjet printer Tx300P–1800 as well as a direct sublimation machine at the show.

The UJF-3042 can achieve a maximum print speed of 2.48 sq. m per hour with staggered print -head arrangement, which allows printing process and spot colors simultaneously, while the UJF-7151 can print at a maximum speed of 4.2 sq. m per hour. “The high performance UV-curable inks expand the range of applications for our customers,” says Tomohiro Ikeda, managing director of Mimaki India.

Mimaki’s UJV55-320 is a 3.2- m wide UV inkjet printer, which provides full advantage of 3200 mm printing width via two media rolls for simultaneous printing. The company’s direct textile inkjet printer, Tx300P-1800, comes with new print heads which allow printing on various types of textiles. Speaking about re-entering the Indian market, Ikeda says, “We started selling our machines again in India in October last year. I feel if we could gain around 20% market share, it will not be a bad start. Our main challenge was building new channel partners,” says Ikeda. 

In August 2016, Mimaki India, the 100% subsidiary of Mimaki Japan, made a comeback in the Indian market after a gap of three years. Mimaki has opened its office and demo center in New Delhi, India. The company is now present across three core segments in the country—sign graphics, industrial printing, and textile and apparel printing. In its course to market expansion, product distribution and after-sales services, Mimaki India is assisted by four Indian distributors— Chennai-based Monotech Systems, Delhi-based Insight Communications and Angel India Cad Cam, and Mumbai-based Silicon Infotech. The four representatives look after the southern and eastern regions, northern and western regions, northern region, and western region, respectively, for the sign graphics, textile and apparel, and industrial printing segments.
