Amit Electrostat, the digital printing facility based in Nehru Place, added a Canon imagePRESS C10000VP digital press in its array of printing presses. According to Amit Kasana of Amit Electrostat, the next generation imagePRESS C10000VP offers modern features and print technologies like streamlined workflow support and integration powered by a choice of the latest PRISMAsync Color Print Server and Fiery-based imagePRESS servers with new Fiery FS200 Pro System. Kasana, who has opted for the latter out of the given choices, says, “We have installed this digital press for the business advantage of our users who look for offset-printing quality in their prints. We are now able to produce a broader r ange of applications in shorter turnaround times.”
Started in 1982 by Mahendra Kasana, today Amit Electrostat provides one-stop solutions to its customers for prepress, pressroom and postpress requirements. The postpress section of the print shop has fully automated binding and lamination machines. In its pressroom, Amit Electrostat has a couple of modern digital presses including Canon imagePRESS 7010 and 7011. Amit Electrostat prints brochures, catalogs, magazines, posters and visiting cards, and caters to both corporate as well as walk-in clientele.
The digital printer has been able to increase its production volume by about 55% since the press went live on the shop-floor. “Although it has just been a month since the installation, we have already produced about 2.5 lakh sheets on this press in this time-frame,” says Kasana. Prior to the installation of the imagePRESS, Amit Electrostat used to print about 1.5 lakh sheets at its Nehru Place facility every month. “We are going to install another new Canon imagePRESS C10000VP digital press in November 2016,” he says. The new press will be installed at one of Amit Electrostat’s three other print houses in Delhi-NCR: Kotla, Okhla and Noida. However, they are yet to decide on the location.
“We have installed this digital press for the business advantage of our users who look for offset-printing quality in their prints. We are now able to produce a broader range of applications in shorter turnaround times.”
According to Canon, the imagePRESS C10000VP digital press delivers vibrant and stable output quality with a high resolution of 2,400 x 2,400 dpi with production speeds of up to 100 ipm (color and B/W). It prints in CMYK at full rated speed on uncoated paper from 60 to 350 gsm, and on coated grades from 70 to 350 gsm while handling a maximum paper size of 330 x 762 mm and also specialist media, such as synthetics. The press can undertake high duty cycles of up to 1.5 million sheets a month and features a feeding capacity of up to 10,000 sheets. Canon has installed 20 imagePRESS C10000VP digital presses in the country till date.
Speaking about market competition and survival secrets, Kasana says, “There is a cut-throat price competition in the market and at a printing hub like Nehru Place, a printer cannot survive if he has to run his shop on a rented accommodation. We play on a bottom line margin but the good thing is that customers visiting our print houses are gradually starting to realize that good quality comes at a premium and they are willing to pay for it. This is a positive trend and printers should keep focusing more on print quality as well as printing innovations. In future, only printers with good reputation for quality and innovations will be on the safer side.”
