At Media Expo Mumbai 2016 Epson India displayed its newly launched very high quality SureColor SC-P20070 64-inch-wide inkjet printer designed for the professional photographic and art industry as well as for the indoor and outdoor signage segments. The key feature of the SC-P20070 is that it offers extremely high quality for a wide format inkjet. Apart from the fine art and photographic markets this printer could also find a market for very high quality in-store displays and POPs.
The huge improvement in quality and speed is accomplished with a combination of features such as more than doubling of the nozzle density from 3,240 to 8,000 (800 for each color) with each nozzle also increased in height to 2.64 inches. Together with an option of five types of black inks (of which any four can be used at a given time) this allows for an enormous range of tonality in output together with very high optical density where needed. The increased nozzle height also allows for greater coverage and output speed. The SC-P20070 printer uses Epson’s aqueous inks. A new media feeding system enables great accuracy over the entire length of the printed output. The new Epson printer also has an option of 320 GB hard disk.
“The P20070 has received very good response at the Media Expo. Although, this printer is not yet out in the market, we should be billing orders in April. Some serious enquiries from new as well as existing customers have been received, particularly from those who want to upgrade from their 44-inch P9900 to this 64-inch model,” said Ketan Nagesh Das, business developmentLFP of Epson India.
Also on display at Epson’s Media Expo stand was the recently launched large format SureColor SC-P9000 printer that attracted good response at the show. Launched in the Indian market in late 2015, the SureColor SCP9000 is aimed at the photo, proofing and graphic arts segments. The 44- inch wide SureColor P9000 printers are successors to the Epson Stylus Pro 900 Series. The SC-P9000 printer incorporates an Epson PrecisionCore TFP printhead, along with an Epson UltraChrome HDX 10-color pigmented ink set that now includes an all-new violet color ink option.
Talking about the response at Media Expo, Das said many of the visitors came from towns such as Jalna, Jalgaon and Aurangabad in Maharashtra. “This shows that demand for eco-solvent inkjet printers is emerging fast in smaller markets. For instance, one customer from Jalna, a district town in interior Maharashtra, is expected to close a deal soon,” Das stated. “Earlier the interest in ecosolventsolutions was restricted to big towns and even there in big malls and large retail outlets. Now even smaller retail outlets in big as well small cities are accepting the eco-solvent technology.”
