Primarily attending to the digital short-run prints for other offset printers, designers, leading educational institutions and corporates in and around Trichy, and other parts of Tamil Nadu, Print Factory has recently installed a Xerox iGen4 Diamond digital press. “After thorough market analysis, we have chosen the Xerox iGen4 Diamond because of its unique features – largest cut sheet media (14.33 by 26-inches), high speed of 110 ppm, efficient productivity, high resolution (600 by 4800 dpi) image quality along with good servicing back up,” says Rajarajan.
Digital color printing
Since 1996 when Print Factory decided to foray into digital color printing with a Xerox Empress color press which was a first in Trichy and in Tamil Nadu, it has subsequently upgraded to new technologies as the market has developed further by the time with a free flow print server, advanced Xmpie image personalization software, security printing software, Xerox DC 5000 colour press, Xerox 4112 monochrome light production press, Oce wide format press, cutting machines, lamination machines, die cuts and ID card making machinery.
Rajarajan says, “We are the leading ID card printer in south Tamil Nadu. With a facility approximately 1800 square foot in area, we provide total solution in short-run digital printing, from design, printing to finishing in wide variety of special media with variable data and personalization; fast and efficient customer service, provide print solution to a customer based anywhere in Tamil Nadu. Print Factory plans to grow the digital printing variable data business and expand to photo album making in the near future. Rajarajan says, “We have observed digital printing in short- runs to be growing rapidly and commercial printing on a high. The Indian industry is poised for a big jump with a new stable government at the centre. Digital printing is fast, value for money and reduces wastage and storage.”
Variable data prints
There are however challenges for the company to meet. Rajarajan notes, “Within the digital printing segment the awareness of variable data prints with image personalization for
personalized invitations, calendars, certificates and awareness of security printing for tickets, certificates have to be increased. In Tamil Nadu, the major challenge is availability of power and fluctuating prices of boards which adversely affect pricing and profitability. But with the new government we believe all these problems will be looked at.”
Rajarajan adds, “Print Factory is the provider of content, print and fulfillment solutions to publishers, corporate and educational institutions. We bring efficiency to our customers value chain by providing them a one-stop solution to their needs right from managing and re- purposing content from production to
delivery.
