Epson, a printing solutions provider, has officially unveiled the SureColor SC-S7130 eco-solvent large format 4-color printer serving as the next-generation replacement model for the SC-S40670, which has sold 11,000 units worldwide. According to the company, this 163 cm (64-inch) wide printer is engineered to spearhead a new era of high-volume, low-cost signage printing.Â
The SC-S7130 bridges the gap between premium output and economic viability, offering print shops an ideal platform to scale up production while significantly driving down operational costs.Â
The rapidly evolving signage and advertising market demands unprecedented versatility, pushing print service providers to look beyond traditional media. Today’s commercial landscape requires high-impact visuals across a diverse array of substrates, ranging from standard flex and adhesive vinyl to specialized materials such as canvas, one-way vision films, PP media, reflective sheeting, and backlit signage.Â
As businesses demand faster turnaround times without sacrificing color vibrancy or increasing overhead, the need for advanced, high-efficiency production hardware has never been more critical.
At the heart of the SC-S7130’s superior performance is Epson’s PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead technology, paired with a highly precise media-feeding system. This combination delivers remarkable, consistent print quality at much higher speeds, reaching up to 38.7 square meters per hour in high-speed modes.
The new PrecisionCore Micro TFP printhead introduces several design changes for overall printing performance. Higher productivity is primarily achieved through an expanded head width, which has grown from 1 inch on the older PrecisionCore TFP model to 1.33 inches on the new version. This physical expansion allows the print width covered in a single pass to be significantly larger.Â
Accompanying this increase in width, the layout of the printhead has been reconfigured so that the number of nozzles per row has increased from 360 to 400. However, this shift in layout comes with a trade-off, as the native resolution has decreased from 720 dpi to 600 dpi. Ultimately, by balancing a wider print pass and more nozzles per row, the new PrecisionCore Micro TFP Printhead is engineered to deliver higher image quality at a faster pace.Â
Other than speed, the printer addresses the bottom line with impressive cost-efficiency, utilizing high-capacity 800 ml Epson UltraChrome GS3 ink packs that lower the total cost of ownership. Print reliability is further reinforced by a robust design featuring automatic media alignment, automatic printhead cleaning, and an included genuine 2-year warranty, which altogether minimize downtime and ensure effortless, continuous productivity.Â
In addition to economic and mechanical efficiency, the company says the new model prioritizes environmental responsibility and workplace safety. The UltraChrome GS3 eco-solvent inks used in the SC-S7130 are Greenguard Gold certified and comply with the strict French-VOC A+ Class criteria for low chemical emissions.Â
This ensures that the high-volume output of vinyl, banners, and films remains environmentally conscious, making the SureColor SC-S7130 a future-ready solution for modern print service providers aiming to dominate a competitive marketplace.
