Digital textile printing is transforming the textile industry by enabling faster turnaround, shorter runs, greater design flexibility, and more sustainable manufacturing, according to Epson India. Aligned with this shift, the Epson Textile Solution Centre at Doddaballapura, Bengaluru, showcases Epson’s comprehensive digital textile portfolio through live demonstrations, offering visitors a complete end-to-end view of digital textile production.

Compared to conventional processes, digital textile printing significantly reduces water and chemical usage, minimizes wastage and supports on-demand, customized production, making it the preferred choice for textile businesses, Prabagaran S, senior general manager, Epson India, said in an interaction with Indian Printer & Publisher.

The Textile Solution Centre was established in October 2024 to create a first-of-its-kind experiential hub for the textile industry, a space where customers can explore possibilities, visualize applications and co-create digital textile solutions aligned to their business goals. The center, Epson says, reflects its commitment to supporting customers beyond products, through innovation, application development and informed decision-making.

Speaking on the Epson Textile Solution Centre, Prabagaran said it is designed as a collaborative innovation hub for the textile ecosystem. Visitors benefit from live product demonstrations to experience all-over printing (AOP), dye sublimation and DTF technologies before making investment decisions. The centre features a fabric-based sampling to evaluate print quality and compatibility with specific applications and finishing requirements, along with short-run production trials to assess business feasibility and market response before scaling up.

The centre supports brands and designers to visualise, prototype and refine new collections prior to launch. We host technical training and knowledge sharing sessions pertaining to artwork preparation, printing workflows and finishing techniques. We also aim to provide exposure for textile students to learn about the latest advancements in digital textile printing,” he said.

The center features Monna Lisa digital textile printers with reactive ink optimised for natural fibres such as cotton, viscose, rayon, linen, modal, silk and wool, delivering superior color vibrancy, penetration and wash durability; and Monna Lisa with pigment ink suitable for natural and blended fabrics, including poly-cotton, poly-viscose and nylon, offering simplified processing and sustainable printing advantages.

Then there are the Epson SureColor dye sublimation printers designed for polyester fabrics, enabling efficient and eco-friendly dry printing widely used in fashion, sportswear and soft signage as well as integrated pre- and post-treatment solutions that enable end-to-end workflow support for Monna Lisa and dye sublimation printing, ensuring consistent quality and optimal finishing performance.

Epson is one of the few companies globally offering a complete spectrum of digital textile printing technologies for diverse fabrics, applications and business needs. Together, these solutions allow customers to experience a broad spectrum of digital textile printing technologies within a fully integrated, end-to-end Epson ecosystem,” Prabagaran said.

Since its inception, the center has witnessed strong and steadily growing engagement from a diverse cross-section of the textile ecosystem, including manufacturers, brands, designers, entrepreneurs and academia. The facility regularly hosts customer interactions for immersive live demonstrations, application trials, prototyping and fabric sampling. This sustained momentum underscores the rapid shift towards digital textile printing in India and the increasing preference for experience-led, solution-driven technology adoption.

On the Indian textile industry, he said it is witnessing a clear transition from conventional analog printing to digital textile printing, driven by the need for shorter production runs, faster turnaround and greater design flexibility. As fashion cycles accelerate and customization becomes increasingly important, digital printing is emerging as a strategic enabler for modern textile production.

On trends, he said rapid adoption of AOP for customized, design-driven and short-run production, strong growth of dye sublimation printing, which accounts for a significant share of polyester textile printing, particularly in fast fashion and sportswear and the growing popularity of DTF technology for versatile garment embellishment across a wide range of fabric types will be of critical importance.

Overall, digital textile printing is reshaping the industry by enhancing efficiency, enabling faster go-to-market and unlocking greater creative freedom. Epson continues to play a pivotal role in this transformation through its broad digital textile portfolio and application expertise,” he concluded.
