Sona Paper has no plans to enter the commodity paper space and will focus on the premium segment, Anuj Verma of Sona Paper told Indian Printer and Publisher at Pamex 2026. Sona Papers is a Delhi-based paper specialist with a long history in the Indian fine paper and creative paper market.

Speaking on the sidelines of the exhibition, Verma said Sona Paper’s strategy remains firmly focused on high-value, specialized products rather than volume-driven commodity grades. The company intends to consolidate and expand its presence in the premium domain, which he described as its core strength.

Sona Paper recently partnered with Fedrigoni, one of Europe’s largest paper manufacturers, headquartered in Italy. The collaboration is expected to introduce a fresh range of premium paper and packaging offerings to the Indian market in the coming months. Industry players can expect new developments in luxury packaging and high-end print substrates as the partnership gains momentum.

In the commercial printing segment, Verma noted that the past financial year delivered strong performance for the company, with a visible surge in business volumes. He expressed optimism for FY26 as well, particularly given the Fedrigoni collaboration, which he believes will strengthen Sona Paper’s premium portfolio and market positioning.

On the broader trade environment, Verma welcomed the proposed India–EU free trade agreement, describing it as a positive step for the overall business ecosystem.

While he said a detailed assessment would require a closer reading of the agreement’s provisions, he indicated that reduced or zero-duty structures could significantly influence both imports and exports. Given that a substantial portion of speciality paper is sourced internationally, such trade facilitation measures are expected to benefit companies operating in the premium segment.

Commenting on Pamex, Verma described the exhibition as an important platform for the printing and converting industries. Sona Paper has been participating in the show for over a decade and regards it as a valuable venue for engaging with customers and industry stakeholders.

With potential growth in print and packaging workloads driven by improved trade dynamics, he noted that platforms such as Pamex will continue to play a crucial role in supporting industry expansion.
