At the Pamex 2026 exhibition in Mumbai, HP Indigo, a digital workflow solutions provider, showcased a suite of intelligent automation tools and next-generation presses designed to redefine India’s commercial printing landscape. Under the theme “Providing the Tools for the Future of Work,” the tech giant signaled a major pivot toward hyper-efficient, data-driven print operations.

The announcement comes at a critical time for the Indian print ecosystem, which is currently grappling with skilled labor shortages, supply chain volatility, and increasing pressure to adopt sustainable practices.

A three-pronged hardware strategy

HP Indigo’s showcase centered on three distinct presses tailored to different segments of the market, from local jobbers to large-scale commercial Print Service Providers (PSPs):

  • HP Indigo 7K: Positioned as the versatile workhorse, the 7K remains the go-to for high-value specialty jobs, including premium photo books and short-run packaging.
  • HP Indigo 18K: Designed as a bridge for businesses scaling up, the 18K offers faster makereadies and hybrid productivity, allowing jobbers to handle multiple SKUs without the overhead of traditional analog setups.
  • HP Indigo 120K: The flagship of the B2 productivity category, the 120K is engineered for high-volume houses. It focuses on nonstop production and automated job sequencing to maximize throughput and minimize manual labor.

Beyond the hardware, the spotlight was on HP Nio, an AI-assisted decision-making system. By integrating AI with HP’s established PrintOS ecosystem, the company is pushing a touchless workflow. This automation suite handles everything from predictive maintenance to real-time color adjustment and job routing.

“Printers need tools that cut waste and improve profitability in fast-paced environments,” HP stated during the event. The goal is to reduce human touchpoints, ensuring that even complex, multi-press environments maintain high uptime and consistent quality.

Empowering the Indian ecosystem

The shift toward digital transformation at Pamex 2026 reflects a broader trend in India — The evolution of printers from simple service providers into strategic brand partners. By leveraging Liquid Electrophotographic (LEP) technology, HP says that local printers can now offer the agility and customization that modern brands demand.

As the exhibition continues, HP Indigo‘s presence reinforces its commitment to equipping the Indian market with the technical expertise needed to thrive in a dynamic, increasingly digital global economy.
