Popularly referred to as the ‘thesis production house,’ Kolkata’s Dutta Printers has long been a printing hub for Jadavpur University students, meeting their needs for educational documents, study materials, research papers, thesis, and more. The company has a well-equipped printing & production facility recently upgraded with a Ricoh Pro C7500 digital color production press supplied and installed by Monotech Systems.

“We invested in this new Ricoh digital color production press to push our printing business to a new elevation for newer applications,” says Rabin Dutta, proprietor of Dutta Printers.

Rabin, 68, who has been in the industry over the last 41 years, is joined by his son Rupam Dutta in business. Located in and around Jadavpur, Dutta Printers has four units. Digital machines running in the four units include Canon Océ PlotWave 750 and 345, Xerox Versant 280, HP DesignJet Z6, etc. On why they chose the new Ricoh over others, Rabin says, “The Ricoh digital press has advanced features and capacities.”

He continues, “Currently, 80% of our works are for students of Jadavpur University who come to us for printing their study materials and academic documents such as thesis, project reports, dissertations, etc. Besides these, we are now gearing up for new verticals of digital printing using the new Ricoh Pro C7500.”

According to Rabin, they are still in the initial stages of exploiting the advanced features and capacities of the Ricoh Pro C7500. “It has been barely a couple of months since we installed the Ricoh press. We are sure a lot more in terms of quality and enhanced graphic printing can be done with the press’ prowess and potential.”

Operating at 85ppm, the Ricoh Pro C7500 delivers prints in 2400x4800dpi, compatibly on diverse media weighing from 40gsm up to 470gsm. Bundled with the press is the EFI Fiery Digital Print Servers, which are crucial for optimizing efficiency and quality in print operations.

The Intuitive Fiery Command WorkStation in the servers facilitates precise job management and color control, enabling quick production of personalized products with the Ricoh Pro C7500’s variable data printing capabilities in exceptional RIP speeds and smooth PDF workflows.

Rabin says they have to explore a lot new possibilities such as adding effects to graphics like never done before using the 5th Color Station of Ricoh Pro C7500. The station is packed with seven toners for special colors such as neon pink, white, clear and many more.
