Mumbai-based Kanan Graphics is the channel partner for Arets Graphics,

Belgium-based manufacturer of UV inks and varnishes. In April 2013, Arets Graphics became a member of Toyo Ink Group when the latter bought all shares of the Belgium-based firm. Kanan Graphics and Arets were present together at Printex 2014 which was held from 14 to 16 March in Mumbai’s Goregaon Exhibition Centre.

“We are primarily catering to the packaging industry but now our focus is also on commercial printing and newspaper industry in India,” Chetan Shah of Kanan Graphics said.

According to Shah, Printex 2014 has been excellent as lot of visitors showed interest in knowing more about UV inks and UV varnishes. “The kind of interest we have seen in UV inks and varnishes give us a lot of encouragement about this segment of the market and its future potential.”

Devender Sharma of Arets Graphics was also bullish about the UV inks and varnish segment. “Overall

share of UV inks and varnishes in the printing and packaging space is very low so the room for growth is tremendous. The market is seeing double digit growth and will continue on the same path,” Sharma said.

He explained that UV inks and varnishes have application in a wide variety of segments and their usage in India is already visible in tin (metal)

printing and cup printing amongst many others. Regarding the quality and safety requirements for pharmaceutical packaging, Sharma stated that Arets is ready to meet all regulatory requirements. “Based in Belgium, the company is up to date with all necessary safety requirements.”
