I had a chance to meet Mr Kasturi when I wanted to buy a komori in 1987. He was a Komori web press user and I wanted to know of his experience with the machine. As the Editor of The Hindu, he was revered and I was in awe of him for a long time. It was a great opportunity see him in person. The Tech Nova manager in Chennai took me to meet him.

Dressed in immaculate white he was a cheerful man. He was very appreciative of the print quality of Komori. He took me to see the machine and as soon as we entered the machine room, he was like a kid with his favourite toy. His detailed explanations, his glee and enthusiasm for the machine were infectious.

I was an ardent admirer before I meet him but after meeting. I became a fan. He inaugurated our first 5-colour 40-inch press in 1991-92. His eye would catch the minutest detail and when we sent our calendars to him year after year, he praised or criticized each page, as deserved. To me Mr Kasturi will be the printer who showed how we could print colour. His sports magazine was a feast for the eyes and we all hoped that some day we would also print like that. He is no more physically-may his Soul Rest in Peace-but he will continue to live in our hearts and memories.
