Komori India has introduced its PDC calibration service in Mumbai, addressing the increasing demand for this service in the country. This announcement was made during the recently concluded Pamex 2024 in February, where top officials from Komori shared insights into the new offering.

Awtar Singh, product manager at Komori India, explained the PDC calibration service, “We have a measuring system in our machines, which is called PDC-SX or PDC-SG. In the PDC-SG, we have a densitometer that reads the color bar. And then in the PDC-SX, we have a densitometer plus a camera, which reads the color bar, gives LAB value, color bar, and also does automatic registration.”

Earlier, for the system to be audited, it had to be sent to Japan. But now it can be done here in India, Singh said. “We are certified by our PDC supplier. This is the first time in India that we have started the PDC calibration service. Since India is becoming a global supplier chain partner, these audits and compliances are now being required.”

Jitender Rohilla, general manager – sales, Komori India, explained the strategic choice of Mumbai as the service center’s location. Given the concentration of large printing and packaging companies with their headquarters and manufacturing units in and around the city, Mumbai serves as an ideal hub. Rohilla said the calibration service has already been performed for one of its clients.

A lot of companies have their manufacturing units in this part of the country. So, it made sense to start this service from Mumbai. Many packaging printers are demanding this service as their customers are asking for this certification. I would like to inform you that we have already done one calibration job for Globe Print and Pack, which is based in Vasai,” Rohilla said.

Two products unveiled during Pamex

During Pamex, Komori also unveiled two products, including the PERFECTOR 40 LP-140, engineered for thin paper printing with high-speed two-sided one-pass printing at 13,000 sheets/hr.

This offset press is suitable for a variety of single-color and two-sided jobs,” Rohilla said. “While the demand for multi-colored printing continues to rise, Komori has developed the press to meet the persistent demand for single-color printing of items such as dictionaries, paperbacks, study aids, user manuals, and pharma inserts.”

According to Komori, the productivity of this press can be further enhanced through optional features such as an automatic blanked washing system.

Komori also presented KP-Connect, a printing task control software designed for both offset presses and digital printing systems. Rohilla said, “Capable of integrated control, including schedule creation and distribution & production results collection, KP-Connect is designed for both offset presses and digital printing systems.”

Targeting 50 installations by the end of FY 2023-24, Komori expects KP-Connect to enhance productivity and visibility for packaging converters, and commercial, and book printers.
