Dhaval Colour Chem (DCC), the Mumbai-based textiles printing solutions provider inaugurated its first specialized dye sublimation printing experience zone at Dhisar on 11 December 2014. Spread over 10,000 square feet, the experience zone houses the latest dye sublimation printers from Epson targeting the textile and garment industries. The experience zone also aims to provide creative solutions for interior design, photography and architecture professionals. The experience zone was formally inaugurated by Epson India president and CEO Toshiyuki Kasai together with Narendra Dadia, managing director, DCC and Dhaval Dadia, executive director, DCC and other staff members.

“Customers can come and see live demonstrations of various applications. We want our clients to discover various business possibilities in industries such as hospitality, home décor, retail and apparel. This was the main idea behind the experience zone. Visitors can educate themselves about various applications of dye sublimation and experiment with their designs and ideas,” Dhaval Dadia said.

The experience zone houses an apparel boutique, a wedding zone, a kid’s room, a cafe and a corporate office set-up, providing real life examples and experiences of various applications. The apparel section showcases textile applications, the wedding zone displays applications such as wedding pictures printed on aluminium sheets, the kid’s room has applications such as printed bed sheets and table tops, the café and office set-up showcase how the interiors can be done up. All these materials and decoration are printed on Epson printers.

“The printing solutions from Epson provide quality, convenience and scope to expand creativity and business. We are extremely excited to be able to drive this new printing technology in India. Not only can we provide the technology but we can also provide hands-on training, a sort of one-stop shop,” Dhaval Dadia added. Although in itsinfancy, digital printing in the field of garments and textiles and other related segmentsis witnessing growth. “The experience zone is amazing and will over time become a ‘go to’ place for anyone with specialized creative printing needs both on fabric as well as other long lasting substrates,” said Toshiyuki Kasai.

The two Epson printers were installed at DCC about six months ago. The SureColor F6070 handles a media width of 44 inches and the SureColor F7170 handles media widths of 64 inches. “This experience zone would also be very helpful for entrepreneurs who want to enter this market. They can start by giving short-run jobs here and when their business grows they can buy and incorporate this technology at their own premises. In addition to customers who want to buy and use this technology, the experience zone will also be helpful in reaching out to the home users by providing them with ideas about personalized home décor and interior design,” said LK Vasudevan, business manager, Prographic products, Epson India.

Speaking further about the plans of DCC, Dhaval Dadia said with the opening of the experience zone, the company would now begin to target the B2C segment of the market. Until now DCC was mainly focused towards B2B customers. A month ago, DCC launched its B2C venture UNQ which sells apparel online directly to customers. “The plan now is to expand beyond apparel and into segments such as coasters, frames, table tops, and more – everything that is on display at the experience zone. Marketing for the B2C segment will be a separate function,” Dhaval said.
