It is celebration time in HP, which flagged off its large-format printers 25 years ago. “We will be celebrating silver jubilee on 10 October. This comes just at the right moment when we have really skilled up our large-format portfolio,” says Puneet Chadha, director market development – graphics solutions business, Asia Pacific and Japan.

HP displayed a gamut of solutions for the first time at Media Expo 2016—both from a large-format signage perspective as well as largeformat technical and graphics perspective. The company displayed three products for the first time at the show: HP Latex 560, HP Latex 570 and HP PageWide XL 4000.

Designed for medium-to-large PSPs with increasing print volumes, the new 64-inch HP Latex 560 and 570 printers enable customers to manage a variety of print jobs and peaks in production at a low upfront investment. New features include: more unattended printing with a new spindle-less pivot table and automatic skew adjustment to load rolls in one minute or less, heavyduty roll handling of rolls up to 55 kg, as well as a status beacon for real-time production monitoring from a distance. The printers have print speeds up to 23 sq. m per hr at indoor mode for cost-effective production of high-quality jobs at fast turnaround times. The printers can also be easily integrated into a larger HP Latex fleet with color emulation capabilities.

“Latex has been very successful for us for the last couple of years and we have been consistently growing. Brand owners are thrilled to have this technology. A lot of big brands, such as Future Group, have standardized across this technology. Latex is the most versatile technology in the industry and very environment friendly as well. Now this technology has evolved with smaller printers for smaller work groups but customers wanted this for higher-end space as well like billboards, signages and so on. We have evolved this technology to higher end in the 3000 series,” shares Chadha.

Brand owners now a days expect their PSPs to help them engage with their target customers. As a result, PSPs have to look for new substrate, new media as well as new ways to make brands stand out. “But they want all these very fast because campaigns are changing very frequently; some last just a day. So you need speed and versatility of prints. Keeping this in mind, we launched two printers at the Media Expo—HP Latex 560 and 570. We also showcased the HP PageWide XL 4000 printer for the first time at the show,” Chadha informs.

The third printer, HP PageWide XL 4000, displayed at Media Expo 2016 has an array of stationery cartridges. “So just imagine the speed of this printer as only the paper moves,” says Chadha. “The same technology has come in for smallformat printers as well as web presses used to print newspapers, books, etc. This has changed the way printing was done. These printers are several times faster than the traditional printers,” concludes Chadha.
