Monotech Systems unveiled some new technologies at Media Expo for the wide format printing segment. The most important launch was that of the new Pixeljet Ecosolvent 1800 printer using an industrial Ricoh printhead that delivers an output speed from 22 to 90 square metres an hour. The Pixeljet 1800 features variable ink-drop technology with five variable droplet sizes from 3 to 16 picolitres with as many as eight Ricoh dual printheads in a staggered configuration. There is a capping station as well. There is a three-stage heating system using an external infrared heating system and a fan cooling system. The printer has a professional media loading system and printing widths from 1.8 to 3.2 metres.

“Our focus is now on green technology. Moreover, Ricoh printheads eliminate the availability issues and also fulfil the demands of higher production,” said Manoj Garg, vice president – wide format systems, Monotech. The company also featured a 3.2 LED roll-to-roll printer for the first time at Media Expo. To increase awareness about 3D printing, Monotech displayed a printer from US-based 3DSystems. “There is a lot of talk about 3D printing and we wanted to use the Media Expo platform to create more awareness about this technology. We have displayed the Cube model from 3DSystems which is a US-based company.”

Monotech’s Pixeljet Polo and Pixeljet Xaar solvent based inkjet printers were also shown at Media Expo. Speaking about the overall response to the event, Garg stated that the first day was a bit slow but the remaining two days saw good enquiries.
