The annual Konica Minolta Partners Meet in Goa in April was a jubilant celebration of a decade-long partnership between Technova Imaging Systems and Konica Minolta. A leading solution provider in offset and digital printing solutions, Technova’s strides were recognized and rewarded at the event – it bagged four awards for exceptional sales and service.

“Our partnership with Konica Minolta has stood strong for a decade, characterized by progressive collaboration and a forward-looking approach. TechNova’s guiding philosophy — ‘enhance offset, integrate digital’ — has been the crux of our journey. The awards we received today affirm our efforts, inspiring our team to scale even greater heights,” says Amit Khurana, deputy CEO of digital and offset printing solutions at Technova Imaging Systems.

A bright future for Indian digital print market

Technova’s well-rooted expertise in offset printing enabled a successful foray into the digital production press segment. This resulted in a thriving network of Konica Minolta production presses across India, ushering in a new era for the Indian print industry.

Khurana foresees a swift expansion of the digital production market in the coming decade. He predicts that the Indian digital production print market will balloon to two or three times its current size. This projected growth largely stems from the shifting of a significant number of jobs from offset to digital printing.

As the industry experiences a seismic shift, with jobs migrating from offset to digital printing, Khurana envisions a bright future for digital. According to him, the key to success lies in amalgamating new and traditional techniques.

“Even as digital printing continues to revolutionize the landscape; the resilience of offset printing remains intact,” he says. The perfect formula, he believes, combines the swiftness and customizability of digital with the cost-efficiency and large-scale capacity of offset printing.

Technova brought this vision to life at the Pamex show in Mumbai, showcasing the Konica Minolta AccurioPress C4080 digital color production press.

Strong revival for print industry after Covid-19 jolt

Like all sectors, the Indian print industry bore the brunt of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, Khurana says the sector has witnessed a commendable rebound, primarily propelled by the packaging and book printing sectors. He talks about the significant growth in the commercial printing segment, attributing it to the increasing transition from offset to digital methods.

Despite the recent setbacks, newspapers have regained balance by implementing sensible cost-cutting measures, testifying to the industry’s tenacity and adaptability, he says.

As flexographic printing generates interest in the packaging industry, Khurana predicts it will add considerably to the sector’s growth.

“The Indian print industry’s horizon is bright and brimming with promise. As we persist in adapting and innovating, we look forward to a future ripe with opportunities and growth,” Khurana concludes on a hopeful note.
