Wallqueen Interiors, a Bangalore-based company specializing in customized wall graphics and murals, has installed a Canon Colorado 1650 supplied by Arrow Digital. The printer is expected to help Wallqueen stay ahead in customized interior decor with its efficiency and speed, which is three times faster than the average competition, the company said.

Mubasheer Ahmed Shariff and Sonia Shariff, directors at Wallqueen Interiors, said the new addition will increase demand for customized interior decor and Wallqueen Interiors is confident in the new technology. “The trend in interior design is moving towards personalization, with people wanting to decorate their homes, offices, workplaces, gyms, and holiday homes in unique ways that reflect their personalities and tastes. This trend is reflected in the growth of the wall decor business, as people seek out customized and personalized wall graphics and wall murals,” they said.

Sam Patel, CEO & MD at Arrow Digital, added, “The Canon Colorado 1650 is packed with innovations; it is a 64-inch-wide production printer with a resolution of 1800dpi. The new flexible inks and FLXfinish+ feature enables you to enjoy a wider application range with jaw-dropping quality and advanced productivity, all this at the lowest cost of ownership.”

The Colorado 1650 works with a new version of Canon UVgel ink, designed for maximum flexibility by increasing the ‘stretchability’ of each cured ink droplet. The Canon UVgel inks are odorless and certified with Greenguard Gold by UL Environment, Type II by ASTM, and safe for indoors. They are certified by Media Partners for 3M MCS Warranty and Avery Dennison ICS Warranty. All this with a speed of up to 1709 ft²/hr,” Patel said.

The UVgel ink when combined with LED curing creates stunning applications, the company said. Canon works with Onyx Thrive software, delivering a scalable print production solution. The result is an end-to-end PDF workflow, from digital file submission through color management, printing, and cutting. The Onyz thrive production manager browser-based user interface enables workflow control from anywhere, helping to optimize both operator and output device productivity.

The Canon Colorado 1650 is designed for speed, efficiency, and quality, making it ideal for automating wallpaper production. The printer is three times faster than the average of its competitors, across each quality mode tested, the company claimed. The printer is suited for the wallpaper production process, offering high throughput and consistent quality. The combination of the Canon Colorado 1650 and the Fotoba 170 WP allows for complete automation of the wallpaper graphics process, reducing human interventions and increasing precision.

The company says the Canon Colorado 1650, with its UVgel technology, offers dimensional stability, and color consistency as compared to other similar platforms, and eliminates the need for heat to dry the ink, resulting in a high-quality finished product. This, combined with the Fotoba 170 WP, can automate the wallpaper graphics process, and provide guaranteed color consistency for reprint orders, making it ideal for those producing large volumes of multi-panel wallcoverings.

With the FLXfinish+ curing process, Wallqueen can now offer a wide range of finishing options to their clients without the added cost and the complexity of using separate media, ink, or varnish. The UVgel technology offers improved image quality and consistency, as well as better handling of porous materials, ideal for the digital wallpaper printing industry.

The combination of UVgel technology and FLXfinish+ capabilities set it apart from competitors, and its printing speed, quality output, and user-friendly features make it ideal for businesses looking to stay ahead in a competitive market, the company said.

The Shariff duo said, “We are excited and thrilled to install the Canon Colorado 1650. It is the perfect print platform for us and after working with Arrow Digital for several years and having taken trials on several media at their demo center, we are finally off to the race. We are confident we will add more printers in the very near future. The Fotoba finisher is a masterstroke for our wallpaper business, and we will soon convert the Canon and Fotoba into a wallpaper factory with jumbo rolls saving us a lot of time, money, and resources.”
