The ACHEMA Media Award is awarded to authors of editorial contributions which make topics from science and technology accessible for a broader public. Due to the postponement of ACHEMA, the submission deadline is extended to 30 September 2021. The main prize is endowed with € 10,000.

The ACHEMA Media Prize will be awarded during ACHEMA 2022

In view of the current situation, this global leading show for processes and equipment for the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries has been moved to 4 to 8 April 2022 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. “As the award ceremony will take place in April 2022, we have decided to adjust the submission deadline accordingly,” explains Professor Dr. Kurt Wagemann, executive director of DECHEMA. “We already received a large number of submissions, but this will allow us to consider more recent publications as well.” The ACHEMA Media Award is open to all media genres, whether print, television, radio or online media. In the past, submissions of all categories have been honored.

Informative and well-researched journalistic articles are crucial for presenting science and technology to society in a way that is transparent and can be experienced in everyday life. DECHEMA Gesellschaft für Chemische Technik und Biotechnologie e.V., which has been awarding the prize every three years since 1997, is aware of this fact.

The ACHEMA Media Prize focuses on chemistry, process engineering and biotechnology, but also on related topics such as environmental technology. For the first time three contributions will be awarded – The main prize is endowed with € 10,000. Second place is worth € 5,000, and the author of the third-place entry receives € 3,000.

Submissions from print media, television, radio or online media (as text, videocast or podcast etc.) can be submitted until 30 September 2021. They should have been published between 1 January 2018 and 30 September 2021. The ACHEMA Media Prize is awarded by the DECHEMA Executive Board on the recommendation of a jury consisting of representatives from industry, universities and the media.
