On 6 June 2019, Konica Minolta demonstrated its Accurio Press C83hc and MGI JetVarnish 3DS at its office and demonstration center in Gurugram. The purpose of the demonstration was to help prospective customers understand the technology and introduce the latest additions to these machines and how they work well as print and decoration or enhancement package.

The AccurioPress C83hc by Konica Minolta can produce colors close to the entire sRGB gamut with their high chroma CMYK inks. The high chroma engine is ideal for photo lab applications given the wider gamut toner used by the machine. The machine is equipped with IQ-501, an automated color and registration adjustment system that maintains quality in print products. “The IQ-501 system is optional. There is no requirement of verification if you have IQ-501,” explains Vikas Samania, manager of pre-sales, PP and IP marketing division.

KM’s high chroma toners

The ‘saturation mode’ of the C83hc using the high chroma toners expands the maximum color space of the print output, resulting in vibrant color reproduction with its CMYK inks. The IC 605 print controller monitor allows job management and editing from the main control unit. It allows the user to adjust tone curves. “As of now, nobody in the market, apart from us, has this technology. It is a flagship product. The machine is ideal for photo lab applications but also supports commercial and small lot label printing jobs,” says Samania.

The decoration is the thing

The MGI JetVarnish 3DS is a digital UV spot varnish device. The spot UV finishing can be done directly on digital prints. The machine has the ability to customize the coating thickness of varnish on individual sheets as per the demand of a customer. The MGI is ideal for lucrative short- and medium run printing. The HubManager allows the user to follow jobs, manage the job queue, create job tickets, recall reprints and adjust the artificial intelligence in one tool. “The AIS smart scanner detects any defects in sheet registration and corrects it. It ensures that the varnish is placed at the right spots by adjusting the sheet correctly,” says Vijay Kamat, product manager, PP and IP marketing division.

Varnish editor and Cost Analyzer

The Spot Varnish Editor edits job files while the process is in motion, giving the user the flexibility to adjust and modify print jobs to save time and money. The Product Cost Analyzer anticipates production cost and gives the precise cost of consumable for each print job even before it is printed.

Explaining the purpose of the demonstration, Kamat says, “What is happening is that technology changes everyday. When we sell a machine, we want our customers to understand the revenue and profitability model as well. We are showcasing the C83hc and MGI JetVarnish 3DS as one package. With the increase in competition, we want our customers to be able to differentiate themselves from others and generate value-added products at profit. The package offered by us can produce results at a lower cost and customers can see that and the sample jobs here. The whole idea is to teach our customers how to add value to their business.”
