The 34th Indian Printers Summit, organized by Wan-Ifra, will bring together around 300 professionals from India’s newspaper publishing, printing, advertising and distribution industries in Pune on 9-10 September 2026.
This year’s summit, scheduled for 9–10 September 2026 at The Westin, Koregaon Park, Pune, introduces a new Advertising and Distribution Masterclass, offering a dedicated program on the changing business of reaching audiences, growing advertising revenue and building sustainable business models for news publishers.
The program will examine some of the most pressing issues facing the print news industry, from the future of news publishing and advertising in a volatile market to AI adoption, production efficiency, sustainability, distribution and emerging market trends.
Among the program highlights is “Reaching the last mile: The Times of India distribution journey,” featuring Anshul Gupta, director – Circulation Sales & Distribution (RMD), BCCL. The session will examine how a daily newspaper moves through a complex early-morning distribution network and reaches readers on time.
Another highlight of the summit is a panel featuring next-gen leaders from news publishing companies, discussing strategies for attracting younger audiences and remaining relevant in the changing media landscape.
The panelists include Janhavi Pawar, director of Sakal Media Group; Devika M S, director of Mathrubhumi (Malayalam daily); and Brihathi Cherukuri, director of Eenadu (Telugu daily). The panel will be moderated by Shital Pawar, executive editor – Pune, Sakal.
Looking at the future of news publishing
The summit will open with Amitabh Sharma, media director, GroupM, sharing his perspective on the future of news publishing, followed by a CEO discussion on the evolving publishing business.
Editors from leading Indian news organizations will discuss the balance between editorial independence and commercial priorities as publishers seek new and sustainable business models.
The program will feature speakers and industry leaders from organizations including Sakal, Dainik Bhaskar, ABP, The Hindu, The Times of India, HT Media, GroupM, India Today and Vijay Karnataka, among others.
Exclusive Times of India plant visit
The Summit will conclude with a special visit to The Times of India Pune printing plant, offering an inside look at the plant and an understanding of the realities of a major newspaper operation.
The event returns to Pune for the second time, having first been held in the city in 2012. It will bring together professionals across publishing, printing, advertising and distribution for two days of learning, networking and industry exchange.
