Atex, one of the earliest names associated with computerized publishing systems, announced a strategic partnership with Summit Information Technologies PL, an India-based pioneer in non-Roman language publishing solutions and more recently a leader in digital paper and eReader technologies. The press release datelined Milan, Italy, 22 December 2025, states, “Together, the companies will expand access to advanced digital publishing solutions across key international markets, helping publishers modernize operations while preserving the quality and tradition of print.”

Under the agreement, Atex will distribute Summit’s eReader solution across Europe, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand. In turn, Summit will distribute Atex’s editorial and content management solutions—including the MyType editorial platform—across South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal). The reciprocal arrangement is meant to leverage each company’s regional expertise and established customer relationships to deliver innovative publishing solutions worldwide.

Flexible integration for publishers

As part of the partnership, Atex will distribute Summit’s eReader solution both as a fully integrated component within Atex’s editorial platforms and as a stand-alone product. This dual approach gives publishers the flexibility to adopt a seamless end-to-end workflow—spanning editorial production to digital consumption—or to deploy the eReader independently alongside existing systems.

The eReader replicates the look and feel of traditional print while enhancing it with interactivity, accessibility, and convenience — meeting the expectations of today’s digital audiences. By integrating with Atex’s editorial and content management systems, publishers can streamline production workflows, reduce operational complexity, and accelerate time to market for digital editions.

“This partnership helps publishers adopt digital tools practically and straightforwardly,” said Tom York, General Manager, Atex Publishing. “Together, we are making it easier for publishers to reach audiences while maintaining quality and editorial control.”

Yashpal Bindra, CEO of Summit, stated, “Our partnership with Atex is significant for SmartPaper, our eReader product that has seen strong adoption across India and neighbouring markets. Atex’s established global presence allows us to extend our expertise in building modern eReading solutions for the publishing industry, while bringing Atex’s AI-powered editorial and content management systems to our region, supported by Summit’s local team, helps publishers in these markets access leading newsroom technology. Together, this collaboration strengthens the capabilities of both organizations.”

Shared commitment to innovation

According to the press release, the partnership underscores both companies’ focus on long-term collaboration, product integration, and regional growth. By combining human-centric technology with deep industry expertise, Atex and Summit say they are helping publishers worldwide modernize their operations while maintaining strong connections with their readers.
