At Media Expo 2025, held in New Delhi in October, ColorJet, one of India’s leading manufacturers of digital inkjet printing technology, highlighted the company’s latest innovations. In a conversation with Indian Printer and Publisher, Aditya Dadu, vice president of Apsom Infotex, shared insights on the emerging market trends and the evolving role of digital printing in India’s growing industrial and decorative segments.
Among the technologies showcased at the event, Aditya highlighted the launch of a fully made-in-India LED UV printer, designed to meet the growing needs of interior décor, architecture, and customized product segments. “This is an 8×4 tabletop UV inkjet printer that enables decoration on any 2D surface,” he explained. “It’s completely manufactured in India and is highly versatile, capable of printing on a range of substrates including glass, acrylic, metal, aluminium, and more.”
Aditya said ColorJet’s technology allows printing even on wooden surfaces with engravings or etchings, due to its advanced inkjet mechanism that can shoot ink drops from a higher distance, ensuring perfect coverage on uneven surfaces.
“These printers are totally sustainable,” he said. “There’s no use of water, no chemical waste, and no need for maintaining large inventories like in traditional screen or offset printing. You can print exactly the number of pieces required, whether 100 or 100,000, with the same cost efficiency.”
According to him, the on-demand printing capability not only minimizes waste but supports mass customization, a trend increasingly preferred by brands and designers who aim to reduce their environmental footprint while maintaining flexibility in production.
Speaking about his experience at Media Expo 2025, Aditya expressed optimism about the event’s impact and reach. “It brings together the right audience, from signage and display experts to architects and interior designers, and allows us to showcase how our technology can serve multiple applications.”
On ColorJet’s plans, Aditya preferred to stay discreet but mentioned new product developments next year.
Aditya shared his perspective on the current Indian market, describing it as one of the fastest-growing in the world. “The Indian market is growing at a very fast pace compared to the rest of the world,” he noted. “Consumerism in India is at an all-time high, driven by a stable political environment and the positive impact of reforms such as GST.”
He said that increasing consumer spending, especially during festive seasons, is fueling demand in packaging, e-commerce, and customized printing, all of which result in higher usage of digital printing equipment.
“With more brands preferring short-run and customized printing over long-run offset or screen jobs, the digital machine industry in India is witnessing significant growth,” Aditya said.
