The print and paper advocacy group, Two Sides, has announced its newest member, The European Converted Paper Association (ECPA), an interest group representing the paper industry.

ECPA is the collective voice of the converted paper industry in Europe, representing a diverse network of manufacturers and suppliers dedicated to supporting business with high-quality functional paper solutions.

ECPA advocates for the benefits of paper receipts, which are essential for ensuring accurate pricing, clear record-keeping, and compliance with consumer rights legislation. By representing the interests of their members at the European level, ECPA fosters constructive dialogue with policymakers, regulators, and other stakeholders to shape a future where paper products remain integral to modern commerce.

“As an association, we aim to unite industry stakeholders under a common mission: to promote the value of paper receipts as indispensable tools for transparency, security, sustainability and consumer confidence,” says Marcel Bergmann, president of ECPA. “Paper receipts can have a lower CO2 impact over their lifecycle than digital alternatives, depending on factors such as the resources used to produce digital devices and direct energy consumption through the use of data centers and servers that contribute to carbon emissions.”

Paper receipts are based on a renewable raw material grown in Europe and are manufactured by European producers who are investing in innovations to reduce carbon footprint, develop phenol-free receipt papers, improve responsible use of water and increase energy efficiency.

“We’re pleased to welcome ECPA as a member of Two Sides. Together, we can amplify the positive environmental story of paper receipts – a renewable, recyclable and essential material. By joining forces, we strengthen our voices in promoting the sustainable attributes of paper across Europe and beyond. It’s always a pleasure to welcome new members and we look forward to working with the ECPA moving forward,” says Jonathan Tame, managing director for Two Sides Europe.

By joining Two Sides, ECPA has access to a large library of co-brandable communications tools, consumer research, industry-leading information, sustainability advice, and events.
