Rooted in a shared commitment to press freedom, high-quality journalism, and the empowerment of publishers worldwide, the alliance responds to the structural shifts in the media market. By combining their networks and expertise, FIPP and Wan-Ifra aim to create meaningful synergies that drive industry-wide benefits on a larger scale.

Wan-Ifra and FIPP, two of the world’s leading media trade associations, have formed a strategic alliance to foster greater collaboration and innovation within the industry. This partnership will empower publishers to navigate the rapidly evolving digital media landscape through enhanced knowledge sharing and expanded resources, ensuring a more resilient and future-ready industry.

By combining their strengths, the organizations create a global network of over 20,000 media brands and tech companies across 80+ countries. The two organizations acknowledge that magazine and newspaper publishers face shared digital transformation challenges, including content creation, distribution, audience engagement, monetization strategies, and technology adaptation, highlighting the need for the regular exchange of best practices.

The complementary nature and specific features of the news and magazine publishing professions offer opportunities for fruitful cross-exchanges on the challenges of commercial performance, editorial workflows and digital subscription strategies.

Throughout 2025, FIPP and Wan-Ifra will work closely to explore synergies.  FIPP members are invited to the Wan-Ifra World News Media Congress in Kraków this May at member rates, with the same offer extended to Wan-Ifra members for FIPP’s World Media Congress in Madrid this October. Additionally, special reports and white papers from the two organizations will be accessible to members of both.

FIPP chair Yulia Boyle and Wan-Ifra CEO Vincent Peyrègne will discuss this collaboration at the Wan-Ifra’s World News Media Congress in Kraków (4 – 6 May).
