GS Graphics, a commercial printer based in south Delhi’s Munirka, has invested in a Konica Minolta AccurioPress C7090, which has given it a good return on investment.

Guddu Kumar, proprietor of the company, used to work in the publishing business, and then as a supplier of printed gifting commodities, before finally establishing himself as a commercial printer in May 2023 with the installation of the digital press.

According to Kumar, before investing in the AccurioPress C7090, the company faced challenges in meeting deadlines because of the delay in output from the old Chinese equipment.

Although not reliant solely on commercial printing, Kumar claims to have witnessed a growth in the number of clients from hospitals, students, some corporate offices, and nearby food joints. The commercial segment of the business comprises booklets, magazines, brochures, and other marketing literature.

Kumar recalled seeing Konica Minolta machines at work at the dozens of printers where he used to work as a supplier. “Word of mouth is the best form of trust,” he explained. “The printers often said Konica Minolta has the best quality and after-sales service and I invested in the machine just because of them.”

The AccurioPress C7090 is among Konica Minolta’s newest CMYK cut-sheet toner press. It optimizes print performance by offering advanced and creative possibilities, including high-quality imagery in full bleed. The media-versatile press comes with several features — image density control technology, optional inter-cooler curl eliminator, embossed paper support, paper feeding through air-blow fusing separation, and more. It can handle long sheet sizes of up to 1300 mm and duplex up to 900 mm.

Kumar says orders keep fluctuating and the margins are diminishing. “Although commercial printing forms a big chunk of our business, we also offer printed commodities for gifting and textile printing for clothing and branding. As Munirka is a hub of small and medium printers, customers have a lot of options. So business-wise, we keep our options open.”

At present, GS Graphics does not have any expansion plans. Kumar told Indian Printer & Publisher that there is still a lot to learn about technology and business. “We have an experience of just more than a year so any big plans will not make sense. We need to focus on our technical learning and hope to retain customers for repeat orders,” he concludes.
