Bindwel, an Indian post-press manufacturer known for adhesive binding technologies, made a significant leap in the ‘Made in India’ brand’s global outreach into the bookbinding landscape of Africa.

In the heart of Benguela, Angola, Educavalor Press is a part of the Noveduca Group, a family-owned business aimed to provide essential educational resources to Angolan schools. In Angola’s bustling educational sector, Bindwel’s significant milestone not only champions the prowess of Indian manufacturing but also introduces advanced space-saving technologies and efficiency in operations that are crucial for the African market.

With a daily output of 20,000 books across diverse formats, Educavalor Press faced the challenge of finding a bookbinding solution that could handle their high volume and diverse formats while optimizing their available space. Miguel Lopes, group director of Educavalor, said, “We had production requirements of about 20,000 books per day, however, the formats are vast and varied so we needed to turn around jobs very quickly.”

Educavalor found their answer in Bindwel’s automated bookbinding solutions. The Freedom 2K Mini Bindline, paired with the Signa 4000 12-station gatherer and Trimit 30C trimmer, proved to be the perfect fit for their needs. The Freedom 2K switches between formats in under a minute, ideal for Educavalor’s diverse book formats. The Signa gatherer collects signatures at 4,000 books per hour, while the Freedom 2K binder effortlessly binds them. The Trimit 30C ensures clean, accurate cuts for a professional finish.

With Bindwel’s automated bookbinding solutions, Educavalor Press has achieved remarkable results, says Lopes. “It effectively doubled our daily book output, meeting the demands of Angola’s growing educational sector. The compact design of the Bindline has freed up valuable space in our Benguela facility. The automated processes have reduced manual labor and enhanced overall efficiency,” he adds.

Sudheeran V Nair, head of Bindwel’s African operations, talked about the Freedom series’ versatility and adaptability to different customer needs, “The Freedom 2K includes milling, notching, roughening, and brushing for optimal spine preparation. This inline solution offers hot melt, cold glue, or PUR adhesive options for various binding needs.”
