Supporting aspiring authors is the aim of Edsol Informatics, a publisher and distributor based in Noida providing services such as book and eBook publishing, web-based solutions, eJournals, and library management software. With an inclination toward scientific journals, the company publishes multidisciplinary books in the fields of science and technology, education, and philosophy as well as novels.

Director Vikas Madan, who has an experience of 18 years in the education domain, says the publishing company fills the gap between customers and distributors and tries to support new authors who may find it difficult to find a publisher.

A lot of professors and aspiring writers want to get their work published. In many cases, a publishing house deals with only well-known authors. That is where we come in, working with new research scholars and writers. We have taken it as a challenge to help new authors get their work published. Our recent launch in Kashmir, a work by Hamid Naseem Rafidabadi, was a huge success. It was a first-of-a-kind event for us where vice-chancellors, professors, and student bodies attended the launch.”

The company published Hamid Naseem Rafidabadi’s ‘Philosophy Before and After Al-Ghazzali’ in Kashmir, which showed the company’s reach.

Besides publishing, Edsol distributes books and eBooks, and provides web-based solutions, eJournals, library management software, CCTV cameras, interactive boards, medical equipment, and RFID management systems.

Our distribution channels span across India and Southeast Asia. I have worked amid the changing dynamics of Southeast Asia and so I have varied distribution partners as acquaintances. India-based RFID solutions are widely in demand in these parts along with Interactive smart boards, eBooks, and eJournals.”

Madan says eBooks in the education field are much in demand. “Students nowadays don’t want to carry heavy books when all the information is readily available at a click or a tap. Especially for competitive exams, it is easier to browse keywords to prepare notes, wherein one would need to browse libraries for hours to find the right book. Technology has evolved, and the modes of teaching are more inclined toward digital learning. The pandemic became an enabler of growth for digital practices. 75% of Edsol’s production reaches pan-India and 25% exported.”

The idea is to work with new authors, Madan candidly says. “Content appropriation is a factor that every publisher acknowledges. We simply help the authors chart their territory for the kind of content they want to be published. Of course, we check plagiarism and edit the content to some extent but nothing goes for publishing without the author’s consent. New authors struggle to find a publisher. Not many publishers are willing to back a new name in the industry. We saw that gap and aim to seize the opportunity.”

Edsol plans to launch as many new authors as possible, especially in the education domain. Their aim stems from the goal of supporting more Indian authors and expanding their distribution circles.
