King Digital, a digital print service provider based in Navi Mumbai’s Sanpada, recently commissioned a new Canon imagePRESS V1000 production digital printer to meet the rising print volumes. The company serves corporate customers around Sanpada, Vashi, and Koperkhairne, as well as retail clients, including walk-in customers, due to its strategic location near the Sanpada suburban railway station.
Pravin Patel, the owner of King Digital, saw the press running at this year’s Pamex show in Mumbai and decided to go for it. King Digital already operates a Canon imagePRESS C850 that it installed in 2018.
“We are already Canon users. When we saw the V1000 in action at Pamex, we liked what we saw. The press has a robust build and looks good. Its performance is also great. The best part is that it can process 400gsm paper. The printer offers duplex printing on heavy-weight media, ensuring highly accurate front-to-back registration. Above all, Canon’s after-sales service is excellent,” Patel said.
The decision to invest in the Canon imagePRESS C850 was driven by the need to handle increased print demand. “With the rising print volumes, the front-back registration capability enables the efficient printing of jobs such as three-fold brochures, saving valuable time,” Patel said.

Canon India announced the launch of a new generation of the imagePRESS series, comprising V1000 and V900, on 27 March at Pamex 2023 in Mumbai. The new series is suitable for light and mid-production print environments.
The imagePRESS V1000 has a strong front-end controller option: the imagePRESS Server D3000. Powered by the Fiery FS500 Pro system software, the imagePRESS Server D3000 adds new functionalities, including familiar workflow and prepress features. In addition, the Express Media Color Manager and Auto Recall combined with the ILS deliver swift color management.
Digital print is booming
Patel is optimistic about the future of the digital print business and expects volumes to rise. He attributes this growth to the shortening of run lengths and customers’ desire for faster turnaround times.
“After the pandemic shock, the digital print market here is finally booming. The last 10-12 months have been good for us. Our volumes crossed the pre-pandemic levels by a good margin. We installed the new V1000 around mid-May and in one month, we have managed a total print volume of 150,000 impressions of 13×19-inch size. We expect this to increase substantially in the coming months,” he said.
Overall, King Digital’s investment in the Canon imagePRESS V1000 reflects its commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its customers and positioning itself for future growth in the digital print industry.
